This show is a rare gem in the podcast world because it provides in-depth political history at a high level without losing narrative flow. I have listened to both seasons in rapt attention and I eagerly anticipate the release of the third!

Literally a podcast that boasts about violent colonization

Publicly funded media offer a ‘deconstructed’ Canadian history to an audience that doesn’t know history. I prefer this one. History first, commentary after you graduate.

I enjoy this podcast so much. It’s entertaining and informative. Canadians should know more about our pre-confederation history.

Christopher Dummitt has created an engaging podcast on Canadian history that will make you think deeply about Canadian society and government like you never have before. In Season 1, I particularly enjoyed the fascinating Baldin-LaFontaine political alliance. I’m looking forward to Season 2!

Enjoy the content but wish for a more subtle less intrusive soundtrack.

The Historian uses humor and an excellent speaking voice to educate with an engaging style. We need to know the setup moving to confederation. I will be listening to all episodes. Thank You.

Whoever maintains that Canadian history is boring, or knows little about it, needs to listen to your very well researched, very well told and extremely enjoyable podcast. I am to finish the first series and can not wait for the follow up.

After listening to lots of podcasts on US and European history, I wanted to find a good one about Canada (there has to be more than cod and the fur trade). I’m glad I tried this one, which reveals how dramatic. Canadian history really is.

This history podcast is awesome. The use of music and sound to engage the listening ia did very well. It helps to convey the mood the host is trying to describe. I find myself on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what happens next.

There are so few podcasts on Canadian history, and even fewer good ones!—don’t miss this one if the topic of Canadian history interests you (would that more Canadians were!). Thank you for your work on this fine project!

Chris Dummitt makes history come alive in his podcast series: 1867 and All That. Secret duals, wild political personalities and more.

As a new immigrant to Canada, I am eager to catch up on all the history I missed. This podcast is proving a great way to do that. The host is knowledgeable and energetic; if it goes a little quickly at times, with names and dates flying by when I'm also trying to pay attention to traffic,...Read full review »

This podcast gives context that is sadly missing from traditional history books. It’s this context that brings to life our rich and diverse story. The 30 minute episode length fits perfectly into my daily regimen. My only disappointment is that there are only 4 episodes so far. Excellent work....Read full review »

Listened with the kids while on a family drive and everyone enjoyed it. The prevalence of duels back in that era was fascinating to learn. Hope to hear more. Planning to make this podcast a staple of our cottage commute.

I truly enjoyed the teaser episode. The narrator is engaging, making Canadian history vivid and captivating. Canadian history often gets a bad reputation for being extremely dry and boring. Chris has a gift for picking stories which prove otherwise and weaving them into a bigger picture. Already...Read full review »

If only all Canadian history was delivered like Dummit presents it in "1867 & All That," I think we'd have way less people thinking that Canadian history is boring. Far from it, as we learn in the "Duel," and I can't wait to hear more episodes soon....!Read full review »
