Great show and thank you for doing this! At first, I thought, “How can one talk about an album for 2 hours?” Well, it’s not all about the album. You get conversation about venue history, news headlines during the time, Dead happenings around show time, recording techniques, tapers challenges...Read full review »

Really enjoyed this show. Fun, knowledgeable hosts. Nice format. I’ve enjoyed listening to each pick, then throwing on the corresponding episode. I don’t agree with everything these fellows say, but they clearly love them some Dead, and I love listening to them obsess about it. I hope they...Read full review »

First listen, and this had to be the worst dead commentary I’ve ever tried to listen to. Couldn’t tell if they were fans or they did this because they had to. I will not try to make it through another show.

Great podcast. Good times. Packing up the tents now. Let us all know what you two are up to and maybe see you down the road. Last saw the GD in the summer ‘89. Time passes quickly. Garcia is the only guitarist I still listen to every day. Always more and something new there every listen.

Brilliant show! Thank you guys for breaking down this excellent series. Yeah, I never saw GD live, was too young, but man, you do a great job of setting the scene in each episode. So glad this most recent season has started! Loving your DP 28 episode. Inspired me to hunt down the few picks I...Read full review »

Everyone just skips over the commercials, right? Why anyone would advertise on a podcast is beyond me. Such a waste. Cheers!

The most entertaining Dead podcast out there. Of course we all know the Dicks Picks series is the holy grail!!!!!! These cats are just super fun to listen and jam with. Check it out!!!!

Would love to see you guys keep it going with more Grateful Dead after you finish the DP series. I propose a roots and influences twist for oddballs, bands the Dead covered, newer bands they influenced. Cheers

Been listening for about 6 months. As a young deadhead I absolutely love the pod and strongly recommend.

Love listening to this podcast- Funny and engaging hosts. Love how they talk about what was going on in the world at the time of each show. I like hearing honest opinions about their favorite and least favorite songs. Learning so much new information about the history of the dead. Thanks for...Read full review »

I wish they would focus on the music more, and less of the context of when the show took place and opinions on certain songs. I only listened to the first 3 episodes and it just seemed like a lot of “this song is boring” “I just go to the bathroom during this one” or other negative comments.

Cracks me up to hear these guys comment on the band and songs when they’ve never seen a real show. The crowd, the sights, the smells…the anticipation, the volume…Anybody who knows about the band knows that there was nothing like a Grateful Dead show…it was an event. You had to be there to get it.

The second song of the first set of From the Vault 36 is “The Same Thing” not “The Main Thing” as listed in the show notes.

Two garrulous knuckleheads talking endlessly about their GD opinions. I’m big GD fan and these guys are just awful to listen to. Self-indulgent dribble.

I’ve been a wanna-be Dead Head for a year now, I don’t waste any chance to listen to the Dead or to learn about them. And I think your podcast is the best I ever came across, purely FUN!!! Thank you, guys! I look forward to the next season! Edoardo from Italy

Grateful Dead Shows = 5 stars The hosts= 1 star Average= 3 stars It’s been asked before but do you guys even like the Dead? Very unlikeable hosts (especially Mitchum), laughable opinions on Pig Pen, and no actual insight makes this podcast very hard to get into to. Mitchum essentially just...Read full review »

This is a great Dead podcast if you’re like me and love the band. I even think it would be great if you’re a Dead hater. In that case I’d recommend starting with episode on DP9, where they will validate your feelings, but ultimately I think you’ll be swayed into the Dead camp.

Have you ever heard two open-minded souls process aloud whether or not they should enjoy Sing Me Back Home or Mama Tried; due to the fact that they aren’t sure if Merl Haggard is right wing? Lol - how exhausting must it be to care so deeply about the thoughts of other people, that it hinders your...Read full review »

Wonderful show... interesting context and history on the Dead. Like arguing with friends about how wrong they are about your favorite tunes.

I love listening to these guys on my commute rather than news. What can be better than hearing about my favorite band? I’ve joined late and it sounds like they’ve caught some grief over their opinions. Ease up folks. Clearly they listen to and love the music. You can somehow tell that they...Read full review »

Steve and Rob do a wonderful job of setting the scene and providing excellent context for each show. If you’re hesitant, don’t be. You won’t regret it. Meanwhile, bring on Winter Tour! I’m ready for 19-27.

I think of the Berrys as a link to the roots of rock n roll. The band is showing you how far out the evolution of rock is going to go and then snapping you back decades to where it all started. Maybe proving that even at the genesis, rock n roll energy was more transformative than the 4/4 beat...Read full review »

I really like the show. Sometimes the opinions get in the way. You don’t like a song, that’s cool...but it doesn’t mean that no one likes it. I like Day Job for example...always have...it wasn’t fun to listen to how “no one” likes that song....same thing for Jed et al. Otherwise, keep up the...Read full review »

I came to this podcast late. Just finished the first Phish episode. I love both bands and a host of other jam bands. Hope to see a WSMFP episode one of these day (I have not looked ahead.) I enjoy these conversations a lot. It’s like a book club for dead shows. Listen closely to the show before and then talk about it. If it’s a thing you’re into, this show is great fun and more. The hosts set the table with cultural context broadly, especially what was dominating the radio at the...Read full review »
