“It was the summer of 2016 that started a change in my perspective. When Black Lives Matter first showed up, I really didn't understand. But over that summer, my entire perspective about the treatment of minorities began to shift. I have no doubt that the the FB Live video of Philando's death was the spark that ignited this change. But, it was a slow burn.
I live in MN and had friends that couldn't get home on the night that I-94 was shut down by Black Lives Matter. I thought that was taking things too far.
After listening to the first 4 episodes of "74 Seconds," I now understand the hurt/grief/anger/pain that motivated so many.
This podcast has affirmed so much of what I have learned in the past year (now summer 2017) about BLM and the racism that still exists in our "MN Nice" community.
