I listen to a lot of podcasts on art and this is the best. The quality of the questions, to the introduction of the artist—it’s all so good. Thank YOU!

Excellent host, that is to say, one doesn’t really notice him as his interview style is so skilful it places all emphasis on the artist, something at which other art podcasts are less successful. Life changing conversations.

My answer to, ‘What audio do you listen to in your studio….’ would be your podcast - insightful, illuminating, motivating, creative company. I’ve listened to many. May I suggest a new question for you to pose? ‘Which artist or artists do you think are overrated?’

Just love the entire concept of this show. Ben Luke is the perfect host . Would love to hear Sean Scully and John Virtue.

Ben Luke is one of the very finest and most likable journalists in the arts. Almost ridiculously knowledgeable and informed, his palpable enthusiasm for good art is wildly infectious. No one else draws out such fully realized portraits of artists and their processes. I am completely addicted to...Read full review »

I love, love this podcast! The conversations with artist are both informative and inspirational. I always receive some NEW thought or eureka moment from the featured artist. Approx 60 min in length, but real in-depth interviews. I love the format of the show, and the tip on where the artist is...Read full review »

So love these artist’s discussions. My artistic life was fairly flat until now. These podcasts have inspired me and got me thinking again! Cheers Simon

Excellent show. Great resource for students. Ben Luke does his research and knows the work thoroughly, but let’s the artists define what they do. The shows really gets to the core of the work and the artists, never boring or condescending.

Not just the best art podcast (and I listen to many), but the best podcast I’ve heard - full stop. Ben Luke is a brilliant interviewer who actually LISTENS to his guests (what a concept:). His follow-up questions are always spot-on and are a response to what what just said, instead of an...Read full review »

My favourite podcast to date. Unashamedly intelligent discussions that offer valuable insights into contemporary and historical art practises. Thank you.

Seattle calling. Could the art news folks talk to emerging artists as well? It’s great art historical content in the making (the podcast as is), but who are the artists making raw crazy innovative borrowing boring or lazy art. Don’t care, but would love more from young artists. As a journalist I...Read full review »

Great interviews, insightful and well prepared. One suggestion: can you include images of the artist works ( particularly the ones mentioned in the conversation) on the episode page ?

Many of these artists are new to me and each one is absolutely fascinating. I love the conversation each time and I love the fact that there is a standard list of questions (what music do you listen to when you work? What work of art could you not live without, what are your literary influences,...Read full review »

I’ve listened to the most recent two and am thrilled to have found a podcast that delves into ideas and content rather than personality and chat. There are many branches of inquiry to follow… Wish somehow the visual being discussed were part of it, of course most of it can searched and found…

Probably the best podcast on visual art I’ve heard. The host lets the artists speak which is great. Cultural influences as a jumping off point is interesting. Very thoughtful.

Can hardly wait for new installments. These delightful conversations are so inspiring. Most of these artists (esp Armitage and Horn) make you feel welcomed into their world. A whole new world has opened its doors to me - thanks to Ben Luke, a talented interviewer.

My favourite podcast focused on contemporary artists. I became hooked after hearing Christina Quarles speak so eloquently about her art practice. Not all of them do - Roni Horn was less forthcoming but Ben Luke does an excellent job of shepherding them through some fascinating questions.

I don’t know what it is about this but the guests are so open and unapologetically passionate about art, the materials and its meaning for them. It’s literary too which is great

I have listened to the Art Newspaper podcast for years, and have always found it a great source of in depth news about the art world. But the focus tends to be towards the ‘business’ side - the galleries, the auction houses, museums etc. The voices of the artists are not often heard; and so...Read full review »

Your conversation with Saville was so inspiring. So many art podcasts feel rather chaotic or narcissistic. This felt so expansive and sent me running to the studio. Thank you so much

It’s incredible to hear all this inside information about artists’ practices and who inspires their work. Great artists and looking forward to who comes next

A great way to dive a bit deeper into the minds of working artists. It’s a well thought out, well carried out interview, and you can tell the host has really spent time thinking deeply about the process of making art.
