WOW
All I had to do was listen to the starting music and I knew I would love it. I loved it even more when I listened to the podcast. It is so awesome!

I would love to rate this higher due to the treasure trove of information, but Its hard for me to listen to the narrator, I don't know if its the speed, pitch or recording devices but I have to focus really hard and rewind constantly.Read full review »

Well researched show on European conflicts describing how each battle was won or lost by particular decisions, tactics, technology or fortune. Each battle is placed in the context of the overall history of Europe. Very interesting and informative. Bravo!

5 stars for great research , and super interesting topics , but the monotone narration with the mic too loud and close to the mouth needs help.
Hanholio via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/24/21
I usually like a deeper dive into topics, but this is excellent at tying in the inter-connectiveness or European History. Sadly, I have almost caught up with all the eposodes. I thyink that comes from consuming them so ravenously.

This is a great podcast dragged down by ads that will annoy you to death. Get rid of A-cast

I really like this podcast. It explains European history by focusing on the broad context and lead up to, as well as the aftermath of, important battles. The production quality is not perfect (it’s also not as bad as other reviews would have you believe), but it’s obvious that a lot of research...Read full review »

Thanks so much for the English Civil War episodes. Nice and concise. For the first time the timeline of events makes sense and the main characters have all slotted into place perfectly. Much appreciated.

Very nice job. I love your podcast. Listen to it while walking. I stop at times and it makes me think

This podcast contains an impressive wealth of historical knowledge. Exceptionally researched and factually accurate, it is obvious the narrator has a passion for history and warfare, as each episode’s depth surely requires tireless work to craft. This makes it exponentially more disappointing for...Read full review »

Really high quality, digestible information. There are not many times where it goes into opinions, but when it does I love it, example “it is not fashionable to ascribe changes in History to just one person, but....”.

I’m a fan of historical podcast. This one does it well. Enjoying the narration and the research behind.

Like the way the narrator explains the battle with references to the build up, the protagonists , the battle itself and the aftermath. Nothing is rushed or taken for granted. The pace is perfect and I have really liked what I’ve heard so far.

I love a well-written and well-researched and well-narrated history podcast.

I enjoy this series very much. The episodes are well written and thorough. Carl takes time to show the overlap of historical countries, leaders and their interests which shape the course of history. Keep it up Carl!

He starts with a strong history of the local politics and major events. I really like it.BUT I freaking hate how I can here the dude smack his mfkin lips before he starts talking again. Please dude. I know you are British but please edit some of that out. Great job though.

I just want to thank you for all your hard work over the years. I really appreciate all the background information that you provide for us leading up to the actual battles.
Bob Scepter via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/26/20
The title is a bit confusing as the description of the actual battles usually takes up only a small portion of each podcast. Most of the time is spent strong up the political and diplomatic context of the battle, along with a description of the kings or generals involved and their motivations. ...Read full review »

This fills in gaps that books skip, answering a lot of questions and making my history studies more connected and therefore more interesting. Is there a way to get it in written format? I am terrible with understanding accents, even for an American. Thank you!

A really great podcast that is well researched and well written. We get genuinely excited when another episode has come out

I have enjoyed the podcast and so far there have been no egregious propaganda pushed. He seems to be all about historical fact. He obviously cares a great deal about the subjects and it is very well done. The only thing questionable is his promoting of a podcast about the Crusades which is pure...Read full review »

What a great podcast summarizing historical key battles in Europe while providing key historical facts that make the listener understand the important events in the lead up to the conflicts. I learned a ton from the episodes.

This is a wonderful journey through the history of Europe and also how that history was touched by outside influences. Like how Eastern European history is included. This podcast makes me look forward to long car trips.

So much more than military maneuvers. Lots of well organized historical background. The presentation is a bit dry but it's so much better than the rambling, over-produced presentation found in so many history podcasts.Read full review »

An informative look at European history through conflicts. I personally am not a massive fan of military history but the podcast focuses on all the aspects that lead to the conflicts and the general geopolitical stage before hand. Well worth a listen.

I reall like the style of this podcast. It’s not often you find something this well researched and put in context in this format. Good work and keep it up! This and similar podcasts should be required for history courses.
