“I set out hoping to find a highly detailed, serialized narrative about the complete history of Jazz music which included samples of the songs it discusses.
This PRECISELY what I was hoping for. If you have any interest in Jazz, or think you might, I cannot recommend this podast highly enough. I hope it continues for months and years to come.
Devens goes to great lengths to ensure that the podcast is thorough and accessible. He labels the segments of each individual podcast episode, labels the tracks as they play, includes graphics and detailed show notes with sources, maintains a website, and updates a Spotify playlist. These small details spell a tremendous amount of work for him, but they are noticeable, and the result is an enjoyable and informative podcast of SUPERB quality and depth.
