A bit too much journalistic indulgence.
I was very much looking forward to listening to a well produced NZ crime podcast and although this is far and away one of the better attempts, the self indulgence regarding the reporting of the crimes was a bit much. The first episode about the Christchurch Terror Attack was a prime example. About 10% of the pod is interviews of the victims and maybe 20-30% is actual substance regarding the events that day. The remaining 60-70% is about how the journalist felt about the significance of the ‘story’. It seemed a little self-congratulatory, and even a little woe is me. When they were discussing how hard it was regarding the long hours and complexity of the case, I audibly laughed. It seemed as though these journalists are so solely focused on getting the story (and fair enough, it is your job) that they forgot to flick the empathy switch necessary when discussing such horrid actions. Well produced, overly self congratulatory regarding the journalistic process. 3 stars.

More reviews of A Moment In Crime
The best true crime podcast out there. Anna reports professionally and sympathetically, without including the waffly conjecture that predominates other more amateur journalism. Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning the facts of crimes committed in New Zealand

Really enjoying the pod cast, I especially enjoyed the latest which was of the Martin Berry trial. I’d never really heard the way a court process is run, felt like I was there and was very interesting. Keep up the good work JB from Australia
