This is a great show for people interested in zoology, psychology, animal behavior, but I suspect that most science enthusiasts would also appreciate it. The topic is interesting; however, I believe that what truly makes the podcast great is the way the information is presented and the...Read full review »

Fascinating, informative, great reporting and storytelling, and well-paced, angering at times (humans are very selfish). Loved the host. Binged all episodes in one sitting. One of the best podcasts I’ve listened to in awhile. I hope there’ll be more seasons with different subjects or even...Read full review »

I was really pleased to find this podcast. The pacing and research was great. The focus on not only Koko but also Nim was wonderful. Recommend!

Heard about this podcast in “Weirdest Thing I Learned Today” and binged it. Wow. Thanks for the extensive work you did to give a glimpse into Koko, gorillas, research, etc. so heartbreaking that we always see the need to humanize instead of appreciate species for who/what they are. Very informative!

The conclusion that the series makes, that we may never understand the “language” of another species, is kind of unscientific. It seems to me that the role of science is to make clearer what previously had mystified us. A better take on this series might be that psychologists in this field are...Read full review »

I listen to ADR on Vice news (and follow them on IG, hi Reggie) so I heard about the show through that, but didn’t listen right away. Happy to rediscovered it because it’s fantastic, as is all the media I consume from them. Always heard about Koko and knew the story, but this was a great deep...Read full review »

Very fascinating, interesting and informative. Provides research through interviewing main characters to understand language capabilities of Gorillaz! Very entertaining as much as watching a top rated Hollywood movie.Blends heartwarming and humorous stories about the peculiar and loving nature of...Read full review »

Good interesting stories. Well put together and researched.

I was at Stanford in the mid ‘70s, and knew a couple of people who worked with Penny Patterson and Koko. The enthusiasm and naive science of all the ape language projects of that era is captured pretty well. Years later, I was struck by how only one person in the myriad of researchers involved...Read full review »

I didn’t anticipate this being as interesting as it was! I’ve listened to all of the episodes today, back to back. Highly recommend!

I am fascinated by the behavior of both wild and domesticated animals, and as an animal lover this series is right up my alley.

Omg as someone who grew up on Koko, this series really opened up my eyes as it revisits her story through very rigorous reporting and research. Doesn’t mean the folks involved with Koko are evil. In fact, all the characters in this series are heartwarming, whacky, and passionate. I appreciate...Read full review »

I was so excited for this to come out and it finally has! It is the epic reporting of Vice mixed into a conversation about Koko the gorilla. This is wonderful and 100% worth a listen
