“Podcasting is a genre of information communication that I was exposed to at the start of this year. I really enjoy listening to podcasts such as No Stupid Questions, The Lex Fridman Podcast, Deep Questions and On Purpose with Jay Shetty. Despite the richness of the content of all these podcasts, I just cannot compare them to this podcast. It takes things to another level altogether.
Right from the first episode, you get a sense that you are embarking on a journey, to understand things at a deeper level. You do the meditations just as you would if you were to subscribe to apps like Headspace or Balance and practice mindfulness, but you clearly start to see the difference between the two. Mindfulness helps you address the more immediate concerns like improving focus, relieving anxiety or helping you sleep, but it feels more like a band-aid (not that this makes it any less useful to people). While mindfulness just scratches the surface, meditation goes deeper, waaay deeper depending on how much you are willing to go.
Scott Snibbe is a wonderful host, who is not only able to explore the concepts very analytically, but also convey the depth very beautifully. However, at no point does it seem like you are being exposed to these teachings from someone who is at a higher level. As he mentions himself, he is a friend, a companion along the journey rather than a guide or a teacher.
Whilst I have just started listening to the episodes recently, I have already become convinced that the teachings would be transformative if you choose to dedicate your efforts in that direction more consistently.
I’m surprised to see that there isn’t any other review for this show. If that indicates this show is not listened to by many people, then I’m quite disappointed. I hope to see the audience for this grow even more and maybe even make it to the top of the podcast charts (that’s not the goal and it doesn’t matter too much, it would just be a pleasant surprise).”
