Unflinching journalism; silly amount of ads
Despite the number, repetition and length of ads and ad breaks, I still shared this show w a friend. Show starts each ep. after the 1”45 mark. Be prepared to stop what you’re doing while listening so as to skip the same length breaks throughout the series. Dear I Heart platform, you’re ruining this show. On the other hand, I only financially support one podcast, whereas your platform is presumably underwriting this show with the ads—and aren’t publicly traded corp that sends ad revenue to investors while ruining the show. Dear producers, what a miserable decision to have to make to work with a platform such as this one. But this reporting is so important and ppl aren’t buying newspapers… Meanwhile, the reporter recounts illegal and immoral activities undertaken by law enforcement to an extent that I think would imperil her safety and freedom of movement. This reporting is heroic, it is wildly courageous. Powerfully, it gave me new eyes to an aspect of racism I had never seen before in contemporary society: *for the sake of overtime pay*, law enforcement officers’ racism allow them to dehumanize black and brown individuals (almost all men), ruining or ending their lives. Gun rights vs. human rights: ‘Merica, will you ever prioritize all. Of. The. humans?

Powerful, important, honest, well researched and accessible journalism. I don’t know how this has any less than 5 star reviews, seems like some people rating might be part of the problem 👀
