We need this information so very much. We can’t progress as a civilized society if we pretend that issues such as these don’t exist. Reasonable people understand that not all law enforcement is bad or corrupt, but the good ones who try to do the right thing need our support a lot more. Thank...Read full review »

Episode after episode and you can’t find a single person to give some sense of balance.

Such an important story to be told and. It’s unbelievable that this has been going on. Thanks for exposing this.

This is done very well. It’s disgusting how corrupt law enforcement in America can become. I sure hope this can be used as an example of what not to let to happen in other large cities in our country. The amount of taxpayer money that goes to out of court settlements is astonishing, the amount of...Read full review »

This is what real reporting looks like! Thank you for this work, Cerise. Be blessed and stay safe.

As someone that grew up with family in LE this was a wild ride. The department “gang” in my area was a police chapter of the sons of confederate veterans.
DaleSRforever via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/18/23
This reporting has me reflecting on conversations with friends and family from East LA I had growing up. I thought it was all jokes when it was said, "The police in our neighborhoods shoot first and ask questions later." It's wild to me how common place and normalized police violence...Read full review »

The bravery is awe inspiring but the reporting is why I’m recommending this podcast to all of my friends. This should be played on every channel and shouted from the rooftops. We as citizens need to educate ourselves and vote those out who aren’t rooting out and replacing these evil gangs. Thank...Read full review »

African Americans have always been at the forefront of protesting against police brutality. This podcast intentionally omits AA sacrifice and efforts. or worth the listen.

We are experiencing an out-of-control, violent crime crisis in our nation. Unfortunately, it’s the cops!! I think the reporting in this podcast pretty well eliminates the old, “few bad apples” explanation for the hideous and despicable actions of people who are entrusted with public safety.

Even tho I was sickened by the corruption and absolute brutality of the cops in this story, I have to say the reporter who investigated has a lot more courage than I. I had no idea that things were so horrible and the cops are still not being held accountable for their crimes. Truly, they are...Read full review »

Typical one sided reporting that leaves many pertinent questions unanswered if the listener is paying attention. No doubt entertaining reporting and decent editing with few mistakes.

This podcast should open some eyes for the willfully ignorant citizenry to the daily civil rights abuses . I would sure like you to do a nationwide study as well- all fads seem to start in LA, I don’t see how this would be any different… Thanks for taking what seems like a huge personal risk to...Read full review »

I began listening to the podcast. When it came out. Cerise is a brilliant story teller. I’m only sad that it’s only a 15 part series. I’ve been so entertained that I have read the articles which the series is based on. Also read the other articles that cerise has written. Thank you so much.

One sided. Excuses for criminals. I’m glad these deputies are out there protecting the true victims, the communities ravaged by crime. Policing is a tough job.

Thank you Cerise for bringing this information to light. As I listen it’s hard for me to imagine how this will be resolved. The work you are doing is no doubt the first step as nothing brought to light can stay hidden. That these gangs have thrived within a department for so long, should not be a...Read full review »

Thank you for highlighting what the minority communities have known for decades. Several of my siblings have been affected by police violence…and in their cases, they didn’t run, didn’t have weapons, weren’t on probation, didn’t have records… but when you are a minority, none of that matters. I so wanted to listen to this podcast. The story is great, the host is intelligent and knowledgeable and engaging. The endless ad breaks ruin it. Horrifying and gripping, this podcast makes clear how the Black and Brown communities in Los Angeles are literally being held hostage by racist, corrupt gangs.

Just a small correction in episode 2. Concurrent sentences run at the same time, not one after the other like the gentleman said. Consecutive sentences run one after the other.

Cerise’s work is probably the most powerful journalism I’ve read/heard in a very long time. Journalism is supposed to inform and educate people, and Cerise does just that. She uses facts!
