What a fascinating journey to better understanding the Russian perspective. I am thrilled I happened upon this helpful podcast, and have already shared it with several friends.

Unexpected true representation of a Russian mentality behind internal and world politics. This is something I have always tried to explain to my foreign friends. Russia has a mentality, politics is not a “career field” for Putin. Its a tribal thing. And the world needs to treat it as such.

I’m not necessarily deeply into history, World War II, or even Russia but this podcast was riveting for me regardless. I listened to the first round of episodes and then started it over immediately, which I have never done with a podcast. Incredible work, very educational, thank you to the team...Read full review »

Although some interesting context and ideas are present, the series lacks any testimony from anyone who knows Putin and falls in love with its own characterisation and ‘dvor ’ obsession. Feels like it Underestimates him. More interesting would be comparing the similarities between Russian and US...Read full review »

I was really looking forward to learning more about the polarising figure that runs the worlds biggest country. His unsuspecting rise from poverty to one of the worlds most powerful men. It started out well in the first episode, setting the stage. Explaining the environment his parents lived in...Read full review »

10/10. This was a superb listen! I’ve recently subscribed to Puck after discovering a few long-form interviews with Julia Ioffe. I am really impressed by her knowledge and ability to articulate, break-down, and analyse, complex, nuanced topics. I only wish I had found this podcast sooner! I...Read full review »

Good start, quite biased toward the end and ignores a lot of information if it makes the West look bad. Great production quality tho.

But is it over? There is nothing on Google about Season 2. I’d hate to learn it is over.

Absolutely stunning podcast covering a fundamental gap in the way most Americans understand the world today. This is one of the best podcasts I’ve listened to. Thank you for creating it.

The way they explain it is very well I would definitely recommend.

This is probably my favorite new podcast this year. Amazing if you like history and intrigued about Russia. Only complaint is that new episodes only drop every 7-10 days or so, so once I got into it I have to wait a while before the next chapter.

I absolutely love this podcast. I love the journalists and the way she tells the story. It’s very well put together and very informative. I do not know much about Russia and their military. The only thing I did not like was that the story just abruptly ended. It was like I was hooked and...Read full review »

I really want to love this show. But why is it only half episodes? I’ve listened to two, but both cut off mid sentence.

Listened to the first three episodes and they were terrific. Julia Ioffe is a superb storyteller and I look forward to more of her work.

Seems to be more about Julia’s family, at least at first. Id prefer a straight narrative without the all the music and sound effects. Some good insights into Putin and his background once they finally get to it.

Rather concerned by the ‘About the podcast’ part: Being a russian I feel sad seeing how even the liberal people approach western values and demand from western people ‘some sort of understanding and thorough analysis’ of everything that happens in my homeland.now it is a study of young Putin’s...Read full review »

One episode in and I’m hooked! It is providing important context to events that I was unaware of as a non-Russian/non-Soviet. This podcast is quite insightful about the contemporary world that Putin grew up in. But the story arc should actually begin well before WWII and address Russian feudalism and how it shaped societal mindsets up to and after the Revolution. What many in the “West” often can’t appreciate is the...Read full review »
