It feels lazy to just keep putting out “rewinds”. If there isn’t new content, stop spamming us. I was a fan of all the Double Elvis shows so all the “rewinds” are exhausting

I don’t know who isn’t giving this pod anything other than 5 stars. The storytelling is fantastic. If you like a look behind the music, this is a fascinating perspective.

I’m late to the party on this one, but it’s my new favorite. Love all the stories and the way they’re delivered!

Amazing stories, well written, part of the Badlands and Disgraceland universe… all RUINED by this ridiculously awful voice which is even worse for the million different cuts for seemingly every line. Stories should be told by storytellers, and this ain’t it. Shame.

I loved Eleanor’s precious account Pamela Courson. It was a lovely de-vilification of the young lady who was, but never was, Jim Morrison’s wife.

The episode about Lou and Rachel simply sparkles with poetry, depth, understanding, respect, humor and insight. I am so impressed, though I was already a fan based on the other episodes. This one is particulary beautiful, and Rachel needed this. She deserves her place in history. Thank you for...Read full review »

I used to love the female narrator which made so much more sense than this new male narrator. Now it just feels like a cheesy, suspenseful, overly raspy crime podcast. I can’t even take this guy seriously. Like what were they thinking? Really can’t listen anymore.

Love this podcast. The Rita Coolidge episode showed what a great singer and songwriter she was. And like many of the other subjects discussed here, demonstrated how she overcame the prejudice and physical and mental abuse. Congrats on this beautiful podcast for telling such great stories. I’m enjoying the storytelling of the new season a lot. Some of the other episodes felt like it focused more on the abuses these women faced at the hands of these famous men. Feels more like “Abusers and Groomers” than about a girl. I wish I learned more about these women and their...Read full review »

The voice is so bad it ruins good content bummer.

I discovered this podcast from an advertisement and immediately followed it. The stories presented are so intimately told about people I thought I knew something about, but this proves you never really know the whole story. This is the best podcast in my library, hands down.

I enjoy this podcast because of the point of view (the “heroine” of the duo”), the content, and the narrator’s voice.

The way your voice gets so much emotion during certain parts absolutely gets me. Such a great storyteller.

I love this podcast. It’s incredible. I was so happy to see Anita Pallenberg get some attention. Maybe one day an episode on Shane MacGowan & Victoria Mary Clarke? Thanks for the wonderful show!

Background music often drowns out the story. Other than that … it’s good.

Great narration, loves her voice. Some deep research that gives new viewpoints into the Girls behind the rich stars. Love this podcast! One small criticism is the advertisements, they are a bit loud and loses Tree flow of the episodes.

Nikki Lynette takes us through tales of the women behind the musicians we grew up with. Never once does she make them out as victims but finds the silver lining in these women’s stories. Nikki’s voice is great for late night.

Ads
Love the content of the show but too many jarring ads right in the middle of the cast. Do them all first and get it over with so your listeners can enjoy the stories.

The title says it all. Ever since I saw Almost Famous forever ago I’ve been craving stories about the women behind the musicians we love. Stories that we need to know and hear.

I stumbled upon this podcast mid 2021 and consumed every single episode I could. The story telling is so capturing and really easy to listen to. Highly recommend this for anyone who loves music and the stories behind it.

For the haters, you know there can be more than one podcast about this topic, right? People don’t troll the myriad true crime podcasts, accusing them of plagiarism lol. Anyhow I love the narration and perspective. My only complaint is about the ads, which are a bit jarring. Doesn’t suit the...Read full review »

The narrator is terrible; talks way too fast , without emotion. It’s like she is speed reading . Hard to listen to .

I thought I was only one who found her voice annoying. I really wish there was another narrator because the content is interesting.
_LoVE@bug via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 02/24/22
This podcast is direct, detailed, intriguing, and best of all it’s about the women who took a somewhat silent but pivotal backdrop in getting these icons to where they reached their pinnacles. Even the theme music makes me tear up a bit knowing how important these women were/are. Well done.

Finally! These kinds of stories need to be told! Everyone should hear this show!

Range & scope of research is impeccable. Eleanor Wells does a very impressive job delivering each mini-bio in an ear pleasing manner allowing the listener to enjoy in the car as well as while drifting asleep. I only wish that the episodes where longer & greater in volume…can’t get enough!

So far I’ve only listened to season one and Eleanor Wells is excellent! Really unique voice. I usually hate vocal fry and I’m just not getting this from her. There are so many great women who’s stories have never been told, but instead you’ve chosen to focus on people who’s fame in the public sphere is defined by their choice of romantic partner. I understand that this will probably get more attention just by having the famous men’s names in your...Read full review »

I absolutely love love love this podcast! I like that we get to hear from the women’s point of view. As women we are often overlooked and under rated. It’s about time people get to hear stories from the women behind these great men. Thank you so much for this great podcast.
