Oh look, Marco’s complaining again …
And Casey’s piling on! (Drinking game: take a swig whenever Casey calls something Apple says or does “gross.”) While John’s pedantry used to essentially be played for laughs, the Hypercritical one is now the only sane member of the triumvirate reining in his two cohosts when they go off the rails. In a recent episode, for instance, Marco basically stated that Apple canceling Epic’s European developer account is a warning to all developers to not badmouth Apple, lest you too lose your developer account for the crime of hurting Apple’s feelings. Mr. Siracusa had to step in and explain just how unreasonable that interpretation was. But Marco will never miss a chance to take the most uncharitable interpretation of Apple’s actions and then turn that up to eleven. It amazes me that two men who have built their current careers off of Apple’s platforms lack so much self-awareness when they incessantly(and with increasingly hyperbolic language) complain about Apple’s sense of entitlement. (Pots and kettles.) Honestly? It’s kinda gross. If you want to listen to more Apple content, The Talk Show is still my top pick. Gruber and his weekly-ish guests generally are able to call out Apple’s faults without it becoming a sad parody. If you want more Siracusa content, Reconcilable Differences is always a fun listen unless there’s toe content. But my patience with and respect for ATP has fallen off of a cliff.
