In episode 48 of AdeLoL, Dan delves into the proverbial newspaper vaults, unearthing four stories, each with a short title: ’Statistics’, ’Horder’, ’Hopper’ and ’Mistake’.

In this Giggleaide we delve into a splashy tale from 1932, uncovering the debut of the backless bathing suit on Adelaide's sunny shores. Join us as we explore how these daring swimsuits turned heads (mostly the head of one easily offended Reverend), set trends, and marked a change in beach fashion history. It's a story filled with sun, sand, and a touch of scandal - that's scandal, NOT sandal!

Dan shares a rather judgemental newspaper article from 1892 and we discuss the cost of living crisis and the impact of inflation on hats and Taylor Swift tickets.    Also Dan was right about the throwback. The history of Hahndorf was Episode 3 of AdeLoL.

Ahoy, AdeLoL listeners! After a hiatus, your favourite hosts Dan and Tom are back on deck to set sail on a thrilling adventure through history. In Episode 47, we dive into the captivating tale of a pirate radio operation from 1932. This rogue broadcast sent shockwaves through the airwaves of Adelaide's northern suburbs, spinning obscene language and scandalous renditions of "God Save the King." Join us as we recount how the Australian Postal Service played a pivotal role in apprehending the...

We take a journey back to 1887 to hear a story all about a Turkish man selling pornographic pens at the local markets. Apparently, it was the only way to get your hands on the goods back in the day.

A wild tale of John Francis Peggotty, born in Ireland in 1864 and went on to become an infamous South Australian Bushranger in the craziest circumstances. True tale or tourist trap? You decide.   Recorded at The Austral for the 2022 Adelaide Fringe Festival.

Here's a little half-baked history recorded last year but never released. Hopefully it inspires you to get your hands on a ticket to see us next week at the Adelaide Fringe 2022 - the first bit of AdeLoL live content since the spicy cough trash our hopes of glory. You can't keep a bad idea down! AdeLoL is back.

We explore the life and times of the hilariously named Fanny Cocks, South Australia's first female police officer in this "Half Baked History". Unsurprisingly, a lot of this episode is just us making fun of her name. This episode is brought to you by Balfours and a video of the recording can be viewed on our Facebook page.

We're back, with huge thanks to Balfours. Here's a live show we recorded as part of the 2020 Adelaide Fringe, just before COVID-19 really hit. This hilarious local tale that has escaped the internet, until now. Dan had to go to the State Library and learn how to use microfilms to find the information on this one. It was 1999, and a simple mix-up at the Ridgehaven Pelican Plaza Cheesecake Shop produced a whole lot of panic, and ultimately, laughs. Thanks for sticking with us guys, more...

In this little Giggleaide we learn all about illegal cheese production whilst catching up on the whereabouts of an old friend.

This is the story of Colin Creed, recorded live at the 2020 Adelaide Fringe, just before the world got flipped upside down by this whole pandemic thing. Dan traces the journey of this infamous character from community cop, to Australia's most wanted man. We're not quite sure what took us so long to get to this story - it's got everything: corrupt cops, psychic premonitions, jokes about Tasmania AND a special guest!  We've been out of action for a couple of months as Covid-19 restrictions have...

Maybe it's all the lead in the soil, but the people of Port Pirie have acquired a bit of a reputation over the years for engaging in some very bizarre behaviour down on Solomontown Beach.  Join us as we journey back 100 years and hear about some of their antics.  Don't forget, our Fringe shows start tomorrow and there are just a handful of tickets left for each show. Tickets are selling faster than bog roll in a pandemic so don't leave it any longer.  #HeapsGoodHistory #AdeLOL #AdelaideComedy...

In 1971 the Adelaide Suburb of Albert Park made headlines right across the World when two volunteer martial arts instructors decided to settle, once and for all, the age old question: which is better, Judo or Karate?  .... Well actually, just one of the instructors wanted to answer the question, the other one appears to have been just trying to teach some kids.  Not for the first time, we dip our AdeLoL toes into the murky dark waters of Adelaide true crime.

We got together for the last episode of 2019 to discuss the perfect South Australian themed gift options for our loved ones.  If you can spare a dollar or two to support those South Australians most in need after last week's bushfires please consider giving to the Vinnies SA Bushfire Appeal.  In 2020 we'll also be doing what we can to support those Adelaide Hills businesses that have been particularly hard hit by devastation... this means switching from drinking beer every episode to sampling...

We're back with a brand new episode of AdeLOL and just in time for some big announcements regarding the 2020 Adelaide Fringe Festival.  In this episode we discuss all the news articles that Dan has unearthed over the last two years that happen to feature South Australian men doing what so many of them (apparently) love to do... getting arrested for public nudity. We take a look at one nude, lewd, rude dude for each decade of the 20th century.  AND - grab your tickets for AdeLOL Stories - our...

We've been offline for a couple of weeks as Tom has just had a new baby (Congratulations!). So here's a little Giggleaide to fill the time. Dan discusses his baloon phobia and we find out all about some elderly trolls from Port Augusta.  Back with new episodes and exciting announcements soon!

If this episode sounds familiar to those that attended our last Adelaide Fringe show earlier this year, that's because we've told this story before. Unfortunately, due to technical issues on the night, we had to get the recorder out and go over it all again.  We explore what went wrong, what went right, and what some old blokes in the toilet at the Crown and Sceptre had to say about it...  This is a story about a boat with multiple personalities, a sex crazed swinger Captain and some...

Take a Kenyan Official, add a few car parts, and what do you have? A weird chapter in Adelaide's hilariously corrupt (and failed) bid to host the 1998 Commonwealth Games.  Fair enough if you ask us; everyone knows that what foreign dignitaries love most is a carrier bag full of spare parts for a '94 Magna.

Tonight we're going to parcel like it's 1999. We're back with our 40th FULL Episode of AdeLoL. In this one Dan shares the story of a portly Postman who got himself in trouble back at the turn of the century when he decided to stop delivering the mail, and start hiding it in his closet instead. It was all part of an elaborate ploy to lose weight and eat more lettuce... or maybe letters.  Beer of the episode was the BRAND NEW Coopers XPA. Grab it now at your local bottle shop because it's a...

Planning on storming Area 51 next month? You might not need to travel so far (or get shot by an angry American) to see some extraterrestrial phenomena. It turns out South Australians have been spotting UFOs in the skies above our state since the early 1950s. We discuss a little article published recently on Allen Tiller's Haunts of Adelaide Facebook page about UFO sightings in 1954, and have a laugh along the way. Watch out for the anal probes!  #AdeLOL #HeapsGoodHistory #AdelaideComedy...

A special episode recorded live at the City of Burnside Library last month for the 2019 SA History Festival. A big thanks to the Library team (Laura and Megan) for their incredible work setting everything up for us. We had a great time and hope that those in attendance did too.  In this episode Dan tells some whacky and wild stories from the history of Burnside, and we get the chance to talk trees with the locals. The audio is a little patchy in places due to the show being recorded live, but...
