Today I’m talking to Dr. Carissa Cascio, an associate professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Cascio's research program focuses on  sensory differences in developmental disabilities and she is with us to discuss interoception, our body's "hidden" sense and the powerful role interoception plays in emotional regulation. We'll cover what interocaption is, how this internal experience of our body's sensations can impact emotional regulation, and practical ways we can strengthen out body's ability to tune in to interoceptive information.
