Consider it a Necessity
I am a design student coming to the end of my college education. I found Adventures In Design about 18 months ago and have been a COT memebr for the passed year. I can honestly say that the things i have learned about design from AID are comparable to the things i have learned about design from schooling. This podcast has introduced me to countless designers who i was previously unaware, and who i now look up to in this industry. Through the AID Poster Countdowns and Brand Practice episodes i learned about Bad Design vs. Good Design vs. Great Design and tips and techniques to pull off different design elements. Through the AID interview episodes i have learned of other creatives paths in this industry and some Do's and Don'ts of freelance. I have had questions on the busineess side of design that were not discussed in college, yet i got an answer through an episode of Shop Talk with Mark and Billy where they took questions from listeners. One of the most important things i have gained from this show is not to compare my work to the work i see on social media because who knows how much experience that person has. And finally there's the thing i look forward to as much as paychecks on Fridays....Hammertime. The AID Network and the COT have definitely helped me to become one of the better designers in my graduating class. I'd even go as far as to say you should save yourself some money on the college education, just subscribe to skillshare and Adventures In Design and you've got a solid start! Thanks for putting the effort into the podcast Mark Brickey!!!Read full review »

Showing that being a freelance designer or illustrator is not all its cracked up to be unless you live and breath the stuff. Colleges should take a note from this and stop...Read full review »
