I look forward to each episode and take away food for thought and further research. There is always joy in the serendipitous flow of ideas in the podcasts that leads to other topics. I appreciate the close looking at objects and commitment to concentrate beyond established narratives. It’s...Read full review »

Excellent podcast but I beg the hosts to equalize their microphone input/output volume. The difference in volume between Kara’s mic and Jordan’s mic is so dramatic and unpleasant to listen to. Otherwise the content, hosts, and guests are incredible…just adjust your mics please!!!

Well, I’m obsessed! Love how the podcast explains the ancient with modern examples and the other way around. I just ordered one of her books. They are both amazing! Thank you

I have enjoyed reading all of Dr. Cooney’s books and many of her articles. The way she parallels our modern society, culture, and political landscape with life in Ancient Egypt is illuminating. I always enjoy listening to her podcast and learn so much about the past but also the present. This is...Read full review »

If you had a dinner discussion with friends, and the friends were experts in their fields, it would resemble this podcast. I just heard the episode about the Rosetta Stone and it was great fun. I will thumb through the back catalog and add many to my listening list.

I really enjoy the podcast but Jordan really talks over Kara too much to the point it is a bit annoying. Jordan is great but please let Kara speak and don’t keep cutting g her off all the time.

There’s nothing I enjoy more than hearing smart people talk about things they’re knowledgeable and passionate about. I’ve been listening at work, and been so engrossed and engaged I often forget what I’m supposed to be doing. Keep up the sublime work!

I’ll follow nearly any ancient history podcast but this one really gave pause. Wholly worth it just for the think it’s giving.

I love this podcast. I listen to many True Crime podcasts and this is the only non true crime one I listen to. My only complaint is that the audio quality isn’t great. Hopefully better mics and recording equipment are in the future. It doesn’t stop me from listening though! Still 5 stars from me.

These conversations are as fun as they are informative.

Been following Kara Cooney for a long time now, and I love the connections she makes between ancient Egypt and modern political, gender, and social issues. It’s helpful to have the long view of history and to see the ups and downs of an authoritarian government, especially as the U.S. continues...Read full review »

I grew up watching Kara on tv. I wanted to be an Egyptologist but had to abandon that plan after being slapped in the face with reality. I didn’t have time or resources to pursue it academically so I shifted to Classics since it’s an ancient world adjacent program. It’s been so great to hear an...Read full review »

I love this podcast! It's a rare combination of deep knowledge about ancient Egypt, current social trends that connect us with the past and trends in academia, all done without pretension and with a little humor from time to time!Read full review »

Sadly, Jordan is so irritating even Kara Cooney cannot compensate.

This was a useful discussion. Weaving translations of ancient texts and inscriptions into a narrative of past belief and practice. While both correspondent’s voices are distinct and clear, overlaying them made for some missed ideas. This was valuable in gaining context for the evolution of...Read full review »

It’s so nice to hear an interpretation of history that weaves in current events and society. It tries to look deeper into topics than your traditional history podcast of just a litany of dates and events. Always enjoy them.

The way this podcast relates ancient Egypt to modern day is fascinating. I love the topics they discuss! My only wish is that the hosts gave each other the space to finish what they are saying. There is interruption and talking over each other so I find it hard to follow sometimes.

I don't appreciate how this white author/professor has decided to become an expert on BIPOC and BIPOC history. This is the exact type of violence and nullification of BIPOC cultures that she supposedly objects to. How dare she speak for BIPOC and steal BIPOC voices!Read full review »

She pushed the lie endlessly that Kyle rittenhouse killed two black people. She knew it was a lie but pushed it anyway to stoke hate and divide.Just a monstrous piece of human garbage

My wife and I saw Kara Cooney talk in person with National Geographic and loved it. We were thrilled to find that she has this podcast. Cannot wait for more episodes to come out.

I’ve enjoyed listening to Kara Cooney speak as a guest on many podcasts. Now I’ll thrilled to be able to listen to her and Jordan chat weekly. Can’t wait for more episodes to roll out!
