Sporties! We're on a 2 week break while we survive school holidays but we'll be back on Wednesday 2 October. In the meantime, nominate someone (or a team) for the Mid Week Hall of Fame HERE (and why not make it a voice note?). What does a Mid Week Hall of Fame nominee look like?.... It's a grassroots, authentic moment that deserves to be celebrated. It doesn't have to be a win, it doesn't have to be a personal best time and a good test is "could this be a story line in a movie or episode"....

We have SO MANY thoughts on breaking, marathons, cycling, athletics - essentially most of the things that happened in Paris week 2.  FYI we are well aware that we do not know what cool is.  (Ps - we know, the audio is a bit average. We're on it.) Hosts: Georgie and Libby Trickett Instagram: @beingsportish Website: www.sportish.com.au See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. When it comes to the Olympics, there is nothing better than a sports montage set to banging tunes or an Olympic anthem that gives you chills (remember Gloria Estefan and Atlanta? We absolutely go there). So when we heard that Jessica Mauboy had released a team song for the Australian athletes, we had no choice to revisit that time when the Australian swimming team wrote and recorded their own Olympic song.  You can watch the 2008 Aussie Swim Team song here:...

We get it, these are tricky conversations. But they are also some of the most important conversations to be having. So when we had incredible human rights lawyer, Nikki Dryden, in the house, we decided it was the best opportunity for us to have an educated, informed discussion on the topic.   And because we're working Mums who are trying to juggle all things life, you'll also get to hear Libby's 1 year old Alfie slowly destroying the studio while we have this chat. We apologise AND we also...

Holy moly, a lot has been going on at Firebirds HQ in the last month! But when we heard that our mate, Katie Walker, had been asked to step into role of coach for the last 4 matches of the season, we knew that the team was in good hands.  And so we wanted to drop this oldie but goodie from the All That Glitters back catalogue, so you can get to know to this gem of a human.  Libby xxx You can find Katie on Instagram @katiewalker_bbr and check out her business at Body Be Ready:...

Nikki Dryden is an Olympic swimmer, journalist and human rights lawyer who in late 2021, realised that the female athletes of Afghanistan were in grave danger. What happened next saved countless lives, brought into question the obligations of large sporting bodies and preserved the fundamental right of women to play sport.  You can read more about the escape of the female athletes and their families here:...

Look, we get it. Not everything can be free. But when it comes to key sporting moments, don't you think everyone should be able to watch? In a society where sharing a cultural moment is becoming increasingly rare, do we want it to be harder?  NOT US! So this week, we spoke to the Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young about what is happening with media laws in this country, and why you should have a chat to your local MP and check out a petition to keep sports viewing free in Australia.  Keep...

Joe Williams grew up in the NSW country town of Cowra, lived for Saturday morning sport and dreamed of becoming a footy player. And he did - he went on to play in the NRL and then later became a world champion boxer. But through the progression of his life and his career, he realised that sport was really just the conversation starter.  Oh how I loved this chat. Joe is incredibly generous and doesn't shy away from his ongoing personal work with addiction (Joe has been sober for 18 years) and...

For the last 18 months, the momentum towards Brisbane 2032 has felt, well, a bit stuck. But with a tiny glimmer of hope around the corner, we asked Olympic and Paralympic Games mega fan David Lutteral (Luttsy) from Nova and Brisbane Olympic's podcast, Towards the Games, to join us for a chat about the incredible opportunity that is coming for us faster than we think.  (Heads up, there is a little bit of swearing in this ep. And a ridiculous amount of laughter). You can catch Luttsy ever...

We're doing to mid term check in, and the vibe in our households is a-v-e-r-a-g-e. Why? Because we've accidentally signed our families up to too much sport. So in a move which is very off brand for us, we're giving parents permission to say no to sport - NOT ALL SPORT - just too much of it.  Hosts: Georgie and Libby Trickett Instagram: @beingsportish Website: www.sportish.com.au See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
