“Do you like Consumer Reports, but wish it would do zero research about the products they review?
Did you like Siskel and Ebert but wish they didn't provide any background information about directors, actors, film history, or industry insight?
Do you go to Pitchfork hoping their knowledgable assessment of musicians would be replaced by cold turkey on-the-spot assessments?
Well then this is the podcast for you. That's their concept. They don't want to speak knowledgeably about the content they review because, according to their logic, when people stumble across a podcast on their own they don't know any background information, so there's no need to include any of that in their podcast. Well guess what, if that's your philosophy you don't even need to make a podcast. You can just print a list of podcasts to try and people can stumble upon them on their own.
There are a million amazing podcasts out there. This is derivative and pointless.”
