This is a regular listen for me, the content is fantastic and not every podcast is necessarily elevated by the host and narration, but Don Wildman certainly does that here. His enthusiasm and own knowledge about the subjects he covers really makes this special compared to some other history...Read full review »

Excellent series and Don is an engaging host.

And apparently very offensive to people who wish history would stay whitewashed. Bonus!

It’s funny living on the south shore in Massachusetts, I could have sworn Braintree, MA is south of Boston. Not north as you say in the beginning of the Hancock episode.

This is Don Wildman’s personal slanted view of US History. Pretty sad Mr. Wildman.

4/15/24 Update: Overall still a good show with good topics, but sometimes the hosts “oversells” the talking points in order to satisfy today’s political buzzwords and internet clickbait culture. He seems obsessed with retrospection. The JFK Conspiracy episode and the Grant episode are examples of...Read full review »

I absolutely love this podcast and the host! I never know what the next topic is going to be and somehow it’s always just what I needed to hear. Each episode is well researched and has a good story to it. I like the guests he picks and listening to Don’s perspective on the topic. He’s just like...Read full review »

Hard to chose a favorite episode but if I had to I’d chose the episode about Al Capone and the Mobster Museum. I’d love to hear more about the Old Mob Days! Deana from Salem Oregon

Awesome show. He has great guests, and the historical analysis is excellent.

If you’re looking for an unbiased history podcast you might want to look elsewhere. His topics aren’t terrible but all too often Don’s personal political slant is plain to see.
teacha95 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/09/24
The podcast topics are fun. The host is a little creepy. Almost every topic involves some portrayal of good guys vs. bad guys. And of course, the good guys are always Indians, Africans, and women. The bad guys, European men. Silly, but I believe the host thinks that nonsense is true. Poor guy....Read full review »

Don does a great job telling bite sized histories of US presidents. I intend to work my way through every episode. Superb voice and good cadence that makes for easy listening.

Really wish we could just get shoes that was in the middle and tells it’s stories with no agenda. In my opinion this show is like many others and ruins a chance to stand out due to being woke. Immediately unsubscribed once the woke side became obvious
Bojado72 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/21/24
Interesting topics, but so slanted with liberal academia and historical revisionism, that I had to unsubscribe. What a disappointment.

It gets very tiring to hear about how evil the same people who built this country and the many who died in the service of this country are. It’s those same people that gave the woke the right to express their opinion (cram it down our throats) that this podcaster and so many others bash on a...Read full review »

History Hit picked a good host in Don Wildman. Don has a professional and broadcast-quality voice … no vocal fry. I have listened to all but maybe two episodes. Good story choices, good guests make for good listening. Furthermore, and most importantly to me, Don and AHH walk that fine line of...Read full review »

I’m listening to the episode about the Empire State Building and it gave me the idea for a topic to cover. The Home Life Insurance Building, finished in Chicago in 1885, was the first skyscraper built in the US. I was taught that after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, the City wanted to eliminate...Read full review »

There are a handful of episodes which discuss history, but much is wrapped in a veneer of woke ideology. Activists masquerading as historians like Sarah Churchwell give voice to utter nonsense. Often historical figures are forced to conform with 20th century morality and belittled for not...Read full review »

I’ve enjoyed the podcast since it has started. But I wish the host would turn the woke switch off and just stick to delivering the history. Yes a lot of bad things happened in the past, that is why we need to know everything about our history. So we don’t repeat it.

I enjoy this podcast. I think I was thinking it was the end all be all on what really happened in history. And then I started hearing things that could be true but were being stated as fact when the scholarship simply isn’t there. I actually am glad I realized this because it made me realize...Read full review »

Subject matter and most guests are well worth your time. Don Wildman, though can be incredibly annoying. So dramatic - everything is fascinating, amazing, profound, etc. He also makes rambling statements apparently to let us know how much he knows, which he eventually turns into a question for...Read full review »

I love the pod. I listen to all of the History Hit shows. I heard you saw the presidental series was bimonthly, which is every two months. I think you meant it is biweekly, every two weeks. Keep up the great work!

This episode was outstanding! I’d never heard of most of this story. As a WW2 buff it was fascinating and fact-filled. It made me buy the book, which is outstanding.

I generally really enjoy this podcast and have learned a lot from it. I enjoy the host and appreciate all of the work he puts into preparation and his cheerful demeanor with his guests. I started listening to this podcast from the very beginning. Typically, I’m not a fan of guest host or guest lecturers. The terribly jarring “woke” editing completely ruined an otherwise great episode. As the listener, I was taken out of the narrative each time a word was dubbed over.

Don Wildmans ability as an interviewer is unparalleled. He’s engaged with the guests and transitions to the next questions so seamlessly you will forget it is a formal interview. Great stuff and the ads are not out of control like other podcasts

The editing to take out words that triggers those who are offended by history; to emphasize negatives and gloss over positives; show is led by the hosts bias. Can learn a lot; just have to fight through the politics.

Considering how tepid and short lived American history is, not a bad show. As far as the host goes, I still havnt forgiven him for that Oreo commercial he did in the 80’s. Never has a more cloyingly devised, shamelessly commercialized piece of Americana been foisted on the republic. Havnt eaten...Read full review »

Interesting edit in the Polk show… ‘native Americans’. I can only guess what was said originally…

I really like the podcast but was disappointed with the James K Polk podcast because of the edits. Do we need to censor people because they use a term or word we don’t like? In twenty years the terms we use now will be offensive to others. It makes me wonder what other “corrections” they’ve...Read full review »

I was a fan of this podcast until the JFK assassination episode. The lack of academic/journalistic integrity of that episode is utterly shocking. Great host: engaging and welcoming. Great content: interesting and insightful - and sometimes surprising.

Rather than focus on history, this podcast chooses to focus on its left wing political agenda. Every episode mentions the evils of the US and it’s history. If you want to hear about unbiased history, don’t waste your time.

Smart and entertaining. I like history, but don’t love it per se, but this show makes it all fascinating. I especially love the presidential profiles, but most of the subjects they cover are important and interesting without a political agenda. My only note is the longer the episode, the better.

Some shows are okay. However, the host often lets his political bias get in the way. Just listened to his Custer podcast with Professor Lindsay Stallones Marshall. I feel sorry for the students who have to take her class.
