Description
Stories from Old Beijing and Master Zhang Hua Sen Every time I studied with Zhang Hua Sen he told me at least one lengthy story. Zhang was a master story teller and he loved to tell these stories. For me they were always a high point of any time we were together. Zhang was trained as a child to star in the Beijing Opera as the Monkey King and he was used to performing and hamming it up. He had a flair for showmanship and liked to use many gestures and animated facial expressions. Because he was a classically trained performer he had been taught exactly how to use every muscle in his face to correctly portray the emotions in each scene so the audience could follow the story. I am so grateful he shared these stories with me. I hope you like them as much as I do. In this story I talk about the Tung Hai Chang's "Special" disciple and his incredible circle walking practice and phenomenal strength. I like this story because it illustrates traditional strength development in the classical combat oriented martial art of Ba Gua Zhang and the nature of reaching excellence in any style of martial arts from any region of the world. I also mention that some of Zhang's incredible strength and ability to withstand blows was due to the actual success of his Qigong method.
