“They can't provide it free...new US accounting regulations mean that any upgrade in functionality needs to result in revenue... The iPhone gets the upgrades free while the Touch does not because it's upgrades are paid for by the phone bills...also the iPhone itself is I believe accounted for over a period of 2 years... and lastly, while I'd rather not pay, $20 is nothing.
