The best film music podcast out there!
For me, these podcasts are comfortably the best film music podcasts out there... and that’s not to suggest the others are poor. I like the structure of these: beginning with the context of the film’s production and then exploring the music in a variety of ways. I love how the guys don’t simply identify themes; they argue/explain why and to what extent the themes and other musical choices (instrumental choices and orchestrations for example) ‘work’. I love, too, the supportive piano illustrations. These are really educational and helpful to a musically illiterate person like me. Above all, all episodes of Art of the Score are fun and entertaining. Highly recommended. Can’t wait for the next one. Perhaps time for some James Newton Howard or James Horner? Thanks to all involved.

More reviews of Art of the Score
Such an outstanding podcast. I've sat through many an undergrad music history class and received much less insight than in these podcast episodes. Outstanding!!Read full review »

Wow
Hey guys. I am a pianist / composer in Liverpool. Just discovered your podcast, and totally LOVING it! 5 stars all the way baby! Especially loved the Back To The Future episode, my favourite film / score. Met Christopher Lloyd backstage at a show I did once, absolutely top man!

It makes the mystery, beauty and complexity of movie scores (AKA movie music)accessible to the masses ( AKA the untalented).
