Like Bob’s brass hand oil, missing!
Oof, where to start with Mince? Well, the truth is, if you’re new to the pod and love Bob Mortimer you are in for the loveliest treat of your life, as since it started and up to about 2022 Athletico Mince was the funniest of the podcasts hands down, just for Bob’s fantastically creative mind. However, his cohost Andy Dawson has got a comedy strike rate of about 5% and either piggybacks on Bobs work or his own stuff just doesn’t land, so that’s problem one: Bob is and always has carried the pod. Problem two is, I think the podcast has just run out of juice. Bob’s health has not been great as we know and he’s been so tied up with the fishing show, I just don’t know how much time he can invest in this. Subsequently all we’ve had for quite some time now are compilations and parsnips episodes and even Bob has become guilty of beating a concept to death (if I have to hear “country effing music” one more time, I’m giving up). I think much like Reeves and Mortimer, herein lies comedy gold! But there does come a time when people move on to pastures new as Bob has with Paul Whitehouse and even that’s now got a few seasons under its belt. It might be time to put mince to bed and we can all revisit it in its finery for years to come instead of churning out a spent force.

After the BBC made terrible decision to cancel House of Fools, I was left without that Vic and Bob surreal fix that noone else in British comedy can seem to hit. After listening to Bob on RHLSTP and Vic on Desert Island Discs I was frantically searching for more Vic and Bob goodness and came...Read full review »
