“Sophie is one of a kind in the podcasting world. She creates such a vulnerable and supportive space for her guests to share. She covers the full spectrum of birth experiences with sensitivity and open mindedness, and never passes judgement. From beautiful home water births to empowered planned caesareans to heartbreaking losses. She also addresses the often over-looked aspects of birthing journeys such as fertility treatment, termination, surrogacy, perinatal mental health, HG, incontinence, the list goes on. Sophie’s capacity to hold space for the beauty, ambivalence and devastation that birth can bring is what makes this podcast so special.
My own births were profoundly influenced by Sophie’s work. As a long-time listener, I felt highly informed during every step of my pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience. Pregnancy and birth are inherently uncertain times, having the confidence to navigate my care options is a gift for which I’ll be forever grateful. I’ve also lost count of the number of times I’ve been asked if I’m a midwife!
I highly recommend this podcast for anyone who is considering pregnancy, currently pregnant, has had a pregnancy or will be supporting someone in their pregnancy in Australia.
