Muppets they are not
I was introduced to this Podcast after following Andy Miller on Twitter and being lucky enough to meet the man at the 2017 Port Eliot festival. Andy has, unknowingly and alongside a couple of other authors, kick-started my own writing. Since then, both he and John Mitchinson (and their ever-revolving door of guests) have inspired me to reach for books that would never have made my radar before, and I’ve discovered new loves as a result. Elsewhere I’ve described the pair as the Waldorf and Stadler of the UK literary scene, railing against mediocrity from their balcony of books, taking nothing less than brilliance as their entry level for discussion whilst falling over themselves eulogising their current favourites. My favourites to date include the episode on Hilary Mantel’s Beyond Black and We Have Always Lived In The Castle by Shirley Jackson. Indeed, I’ve gone on to read several of Jackson’s books and short stories (‘The Lottery’. Just wow...). It’s like meeting your friends in a coffee shop every fortnight for a natter about your favourite thing. Nothing finer.

Confusing Agatha Christie and Enid Blyton? Only when one plays tennis in the nude. Who would know such a odd fact? This podcast full of the knowledge that comes from reading...a lot. They are entertaining and amusing while giving you a second chance at authors and books you may have forgotten about.

It's an unmissable item in my podcast playlist, and I recommend it to book co-conspirators with great glee. I'm about a...Read full review »
