It provides a thrillingly good account of the power books have to enthral and move us. Exquisite. Right up there with the episode on Dermot Healy. And a reminder that Maxwell, whose books I first read in my early 20s when Harvill first reissued them, is a writer to whom I must return as I close in on my 50s.”
