Excellent, measured, and thought provoking
I’m a historian of the 19th century myself and like most who specialise in the subject I always thought I wouldn’t touch the subject of the Whitechapel Murders with a barge pole. So huge kudos to Rubenfold for tackling this head on in such a measured, thoughtful and well-researched way. It not only casts light on Victorian misogyny and class bias, but on that that still pervades our culture today. The whole podcast is excellent and very thought provoking- thank you.

I didn’t expect too much from what I think is quite a trashy title, but the podcast is really well researched and the women’s stories amongst the backdrop of Victorian east end London is fascinating. A new telling of the story we all know, but find endlessly fascinating. Researched very thoroughly, presented thoughtfully, with attention to every detail. So poignant, and beautiful I cried for women dead nearly 150 years. Absolute perfection.
