OMG. President Trump read their playbook and hog-tied all his people by ignoring their court orders to appear before congress. The fact that President Trump wasn’t impeached either time was devastating for your country. Hopefully history can record what really happened. Thank God that...Read full review »

The parallels from this story to current events is uncanny. It is important for stories such as that of Agnew to be told for sure. The message though that Agnew sought to discredit the media and the justice department is repeated over and over and the overall presentation becomes a bit tedious...Read full review »

Rachel Maddow and her crew always tell us about history and news in the most engaging, fascinating and brilliant way. I was a child during 1973-4, and because my folks followed the news voraciously I remember talk of Nixon and Agnew being crooks. Our household was for McGovern. This is a...Read full review »

Honest, factual, informative and educational podcast. It’s sad that there are some negative comments on this podcast. I wonder if these people realize how ignorant their review sounds. Voice of truth is stronger and will always be more powerful. Thank you

What an insane whack nut! I can’t understand if she’s so out of touch she believes her bull or does she know what an idiot she sounds like?

My parents were very conservative Republicans, but were also the people of staunchest personal morality. My dad had been a 20-year Marine Corps pilot, and when he brought home paperwork from his job, he wouldn't even let my siblings borrow the Department of Justice pencils he used, because...Read full review »

I love your show! But there’s only one little complain about. The big CNBC logo and the banner at bottom of screen. My TV has those elements caused a burn-in on screen. Can it be fixed in a creative way?

Gen Z’er here who has never heard about this part of history. I don’t know why this isn’t taught in every government/history class. The structure of this podcast makes a complex story pretty digestible. And Maddow does a great job pointing out the important historical moments. Highly recommend.

I was just a young child during the Nixon administration and I knew virtually nothing about Spiro Agnew . This podcast informed me about a part of history of which I was not aware. This podcast was outstanding. The depth of research, the topic, the presentation. All of it was amazing. This is a story I thought I knew, and I learned new things every episode. Even though the story happened decades ago, it's a cautionary tale for our time.Read full review »

It’s a good story that I was not familiar with and Rachel Maddow is a good storyteller. However the entire story could have been told in one or two well edited episodes. Wondering if you’re going to cover the VP that is currently set to take over the WH next? Aka, “10% to the Big Guy,” Sleepy Joe Biden. Good thing he won’t be taking over the WH and will most likely be going to the Big House instead. 🙄

I was very interested in hearing this after I heard the interview on fresh air. I can’t stand the mix, the music is just so loud and an inappropriate choice for the subject matter. And there’s so many commercials. I couldn’t even listen to it.

Leave it to Rachel to uncover audiotapes & transcripts of the Agnew VP debacle & create this fascinating, albeit disheartening story. Rachel at her best. I was 20 - 21 during this time period and I remember Agnew resigning but little else. And the fact that she uncovered info that the attorneys never even knew was icing on the cake. Bravo.

Incredible story that is so well written and produced. The parallels between this story and to several recent political scandals is amazing. Agnew and his law team wrote the blueprint of how to try sidestep the truth. A must listen for anyone interested in politics.

I listened to this after the 2020 election, and seeing the Nixon administration and the Trump administration in parallel, truly gives me thanks for bidens win. Trump is truly the new Agnew, a lightning rod for the fringe nationalist groups, just like the Nixon administration.
