Swap Agnew’s name with Trump’s and this podcast could be about the current state of politics. Corruption, attacking the press, attacking his own appointees. Chilling! Great job, Rachel and staff!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Ms Maddow never disappoints with her nightly broadcasts. But I was blown away by bagman. I hope she will do something similar with Russian corruption. I listened 3 times to her story of the oligarch who bought a trump property for $40 or $50 million over what trump paid — an uninhabitable...Read full review »

Not only does she state information but more importantly backs it with evidence.

Crazy piece of American history that shines light on today’s political climate

A fascinating narrative! I was astounded by the amount of time & effort of research that went into ferreting all the information out. Some which had never been seen by the light of day. No matter your political affiliation, this is an important presentation of a time in our history.

Excellent revelations about so many issues and details about the crisis during the Watergate era that we never knew. I’m glad I knew the ending before I listened or it would have been too scary. Today is even more intense and scary. We have yet to know the ending, and we are definitely in a...Read full review »

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Chuck you did it! This is the exact podcast us listeners need today. Your choice of guests is stellar. James Comey, Preet Bharara, Andy McCabe, Lisa Monaco all kept me hanging onto each and every word they said. Their experience and knowledge of past and...Read full review »

I still don’t understand why they didn’t indict him. Was the DOJ policy already adopted? Who made it a policy? Why would anyone with a brain stem agree with the policy?

I found this to be highly intriguing. This lesser known aspect of the Nixon administration is jaw dropping. I kept asking myself “How could I have not known about this?” Granted I was only just born when Watergate happened, but stilll......the deception on Agnews part was mind blowing for its...Read full review »

So well told. So current. Scary. Listening to a guilty politician who has been taking bribes for years and admitted so, completely lie to the public makes you want to scream.

Thank you, Rachel as always for your detailed and consuming material. This is a must to listen for anyone who is fascinated with history, politics and human ego. This will only conform to you that what we see today in politics is not ok, cannot be ok, will not be ok.

Trump is a moronic, slightly sleazier version of Agnew. What is most disheartening is we have no George Bells or Eliot Richardsons. We have Bill Barr the Machiavellian AG.

I wish I could give all the stars from our galaxy. When I grew up in high school we learned relatively little about Spiro Agnew's fall from grace - I wish we had learned more about his story back then. It has many distinct parallels to our world now. Incredibly entertaining, thought-provoking podcast.

I never really understood wWatergate, and even less about any of the related politics. This is just plain fascinating. Rachel’s way of repeating names and facts really helps me remember them, when there are just so many people in the story.

Even though I grew up in Maryland, I knew very little of this history of Spiro Agnew. The fact that his racist nationalism is mirrored today is goosebump-inducing. It didn’t make me feel better about the world. But knowing history to avoid repeating it feels important these days.

Listening to this podcast I have learned so much I didn’t know and I was an adult when this went on. It’s just amazing how history keeps repeating itself. The sad thing is we done seem to learn anything from the past.
