Everybody has a first
I've been listening to Battleship Pretension for over a decade now. In fact, it's the first podcast I ever listened to, thanks to a link on IMDB's main page to their 50th episode, a Buster Keaton profile (back when IMDB had notable movie info and wasn't just a slobbering fanboy tribute to Marvel movies or whatever else nerd culture is meant to be excited about). So I guess it's about time I finally drop a review. Like any podcast your enjoyment hinges on whether or not you enjoy the hosts' personalities. David and Tyler (particularly the former) can always be counted on to have pretty strong opinions and rarely apologize for them, and I'd be lying if I said it never rubbed me the wrong way, but I think they've softened on know-it-all-ness in recent years. I also happen to find both of them pretty funny, and each have said things that impacted, if not outright completely changed, the way I look at cinema as an art form. Aside from all that, I have to give them 5 stars just for not jumping on board the Christopher Nolan bandwagon. The guy is good, but he ain't the Second Coming, and I pretty much jumped out of my chair with excitement when David named Inception the worst film of 2010. Which sounds snarkier and more dismissive than it actually was in the context of their discussion.Read full review »

It's not a review show, but instead talk about specific topics and the movies that relate to that topic. I suggest going back and listening to their...Read full review »
