“While the hosts seem engaging enough, the conversations were mostly a lot of banter and asides. It was as if I was a fly on the wall of two guys chewing the rag in their living room. I was hoping for more quality film criticism instead of a kind of movie club talk. That's not really what I'm looking for.
I guess it would be OK if it was the only film podcast out there. Maybe it would help if the podcast was a little more structured; for instance, if the description included specific time points when the topic of conversation changed. It just took too long to find some substance.
But since I already regularly listen to three other film-related podcasts, and there are only so many hours in the day, Battleship Pretension doesn't make the cut.”Read full review »
