Have been desperately trying to find an awesome true story series like S* Town and this one was just what I needed. Binged on it for about 2 days 😂😂👏👏😍

Jason does an excellent job in investigating and creating a comprehensive report on the story. He has a really great voice to listen to. His information is understandable and solid. He has a sensitive and relatable interviewing style. I truly enjoyed listening to the story and hope there will be...Read full review »

Hope the truth comes out and DNA gives some insight into this horrible crime.

I loved both seasons!! So well made and the stories well told.

Enjoyed every minute. Well done everyone involved. Crime solving at its best.

Just found Bear Brook and had to binge all of season 1. Such a heart breaking story yet I find myself in awe with all those who worked so hard to solve pieces of the case. One thing I can’t stop thinking is that “grass mushrooms” sounds an awful lot like “Rasmussen.” Like something small...Read full review »

The content is amazing, the music is painful, especially when wearing headphones.

Meh
Season 1 was phenomenal. One of my top 5. While I love the storytelling and style of the podcast, I have yet to hear any actual evidence of Jason’s innocence. Yes, the mom was a bully, but what else is there that casts doubt on his involvement? I’m surprised this case was chosen by innocence...Read full review »

Great podcast. Just a correction. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police ( RCMP) is not the FBI of Canada. It is Canada’s national police servicing smaller cities and communities. Most major cities have their own city police forces. I understand that this is an American podcast but the producers...Read full review »

Season 2 gives zero compelling arguments or evidence as to why Jason could be innocent; only hypotheticals on how he could falsely confess and comparisons to completely unrelated cases. I’ve never listened to such a lengthy podcast with so little concrete information and investigative research.
Gen2483 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 03/26/24
I really hope there is something else besides what they are try to call bullying. Mom was involved. Years into being a cop. Knows how this stuff works, but just forgets when it is her kid? Step dad on tape clearly and calmly admitting that he believes he did it. I truly hope there is...Read full review »

Just found Bear Brook and I’m hooked. So interesting and well told.

Excellent podcast. My arguement to how they missed they missed the first barrel is that in 1985 they didn’t have the resources they do now.

This is an amazing podcast, season one is great , sad and heartbreaking. Season 2 ( I am on episode 3 )is sooo maddening and makes me wonder how is detective Kojac wannabe free to roam around , this is infuriating; also why the interrogation of suspects doesn’t have a advocate for the suspect? A...Read full review »

Very well done show, Jason’s storytelling is fantastic, story itself very captivating, give it a shot!

Season one as so good and I can’t wait to listen to season two.

I loved Season 1 but I was floored by the obvious guilt of Jason in Season 2. I’m usually all in when it comes to the defense of the wrongfully accused but I struggled to find any solid evidence that this man DIDNT kill that woman! Yes the cops were corrupt. Yes the parents were duped and stupid....Read full review »

Season 1 is great. S2 is boring, contrived and nothing actually happens.

This was actually my first podcast and how I got into listening to podcast was from listening to Jason moon do the bear brook one and I just love how he tells the story and keeps you so interested. I hope he does a lot more New Hampshire murder stories.

I love this podcast, but I also want to say that I am officially Jason Carroll’s Mother’s biggest hater, and I will be for the rest of my life. Her BIGGEST hater. Forever. Biggest. Hater. Ever. That’s all.

Best podcast since Serial and Cold. Extremely well done and researched. Everything flows perfectly. My jaw dropped at the end of Ep 1 season 2. I don’t understand how a mother could do this to her son, isn’t interrogating immediate family a conflict of interest?! Incomprehensible and disgusting...Read full review »

The first season was very compelling and well researched. Definitely one of the best true crime podcasts. If you like “your own backyard” you’ll like this one.

Season 1 was probably the best show I’ve heard so far and trust me I listen to alooot Great writing, great story, crazy ride. Casefile is a close second.

I loved Season 1 of this podcast, so I was really excited to see a Season 2 release. I can’t get over the 180 this podcast pulled here. Jason is guilty. As I kept listening I could not believe the direction of the story, that Jason was not only unfairly blamed for the whole murder (which of...Read full review »

Good pacing, thorough information, good primary sources although it’s too bad this wasn’t done earlier since a few of those involved are dead, would have loved to hear more about the mother/son dynamic in the situation.

This story is told in an addicting manner, keeps you hanging on!
Rust Shackleford via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/08/23
Jason’s mom is the biggest idiot on the planet. She says she was “protecting” her kid. The fact that she can still stand on that principle is beyond incomprehensible. And give me a break for those in this podcast who feel empathy for her because they say she thought she was doing the right thing....Read full review »

I almost stopped after season 1 (for no good reason) and I am so glad I didn’t. The second season is different yet equally as incredible. Thank you for the solid and respectful journalism. This is topnotch reporting.
SN1013 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 11/16/23
As far as mystery podcasts go, this is like a page turner mystery novel that you cannot put down. What is amazing is the premise of this series. Why would someone admit to a murder they did not do? The power of suggestion? How does our brain work? What is the thin line between what we believe...Read full review »

Season 2. Sounded very interesting but was told with WAY too many long pauses, followed with ridiculous, too loud synth music and too many repeats of the same story lines. An 8 hourish podcast with not even an interesting case to start with… once we finally heard the whole murder case. Even the...Read full review »

I live on the road, and I listen to podcasts almost exclusively. Ran across this one by accident. I can listen to a story, and have thoughts, etc. But big ups to these guys. This is a tragic and heartbreaking story. Jason Moon and NHPR do an incredible job of sharing the complex details and narratives, very well done.

Constant theme cops can’t solve cases. To get clearance rates high let’s just stitch anyone up. The American system needs to recruit qualified competent people.

I binged both seasons and I have to say, this is one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. So well done; I can’t wait to hear more!

A well done, simply laid out presentation of the facts and connection to another crime across the country. Interesting, but a very sad tale of a mother and her daughters and the police’s hunt for answers with the help of New Hampshire’s finest investigative journalist. 10/10. Lost me on this one🤷🏻‍♂️.. slow, repetitive. Not worth listening too.

Season 2 is slow and i thought it was very sad. Obviously jason carroll’s mom and stepdad wanted to get rid of him because he didn’t get along with his stepdad and they wanted to focus on the 3 children that they have together. The way she was yelling at him and coercing her own son… and then...Read full review »
