Stranded in the central suburbs, one walks past a river flowing into the bay. A cicada chirps in the background, like the rhythm of the great planet's metronome.
Ducks lie steady upon the stream. Are they sleeping? I hope not (because if so a small-footed South Australian man will jumble up their product).
The gumtrees reach up to the sun taking in their glorious rays. A small lizard scurries across the bark. It has the knowledge. It's in on the scoop. But what scoop? What holy beast doth break the immortal tick of nature?
Two men, rising from the water as fisheries cops to solidfy into radio hosts, determined to bring laughter and joviality to the most serious of situations. They talk of playstations, starmen, farts, loverats and creaming. Riding the waves of euphoric joy they nourish the mind and heart, synchronous with it's life-affirming beating. Jokes whose potency melds into our collective souls until it feels that they have always been there, an eternal pillar of the ever-turning seasons.
And though you may not always notice it, you may not always feel it, it is there, ready to be connected to. And there lies no greater emotion that the perilous sadness that would be engendered by its loss.
So please young traveller, open your ears, climb the big ol' podcast mountain to reach the summit of waggishness, and enjoy what is truly one of the greatest podcasts ever to have uttered a single humorous breath.
