Really feeling the spaced out release schedule now with these episodes, Into the Breach is a solid story but feels incomplete without the surrounding episodes. On a rewatch paired with Juggernaut and Flash Strike it fits right in, but how does it stand up on its own? Let's jump in! With these two episodes we experience a bit of tonal whiplash following so close on the heels of the excellent and very dark Identity Crisis, but there's some good stuff to be found. Point of No Return is a solidly decent episode, although at times we wish it had pushed the stakes a little higher, and Juggernaut is a return to typical Bad Batch fare for better or worse, though it has some good humor and excellent animation. Out of nowhere comes Identity Crisis, an episode which quickly has become of one our favorite episodes in the entire series. It's probably most comparable to Twin Suns in Rebels as a one-off with a strong message and intense story telling. Let's jump in! A strong return to form for the Bad Batch with a returning character that we all knew was going to show up. The show takes a bit of an odd departure in this episode, splitting up into A and B plots where the A plot features an old bounty hunter friend but unfortunately doesn't do a lot to move the plot forward or to world build, while the B plot features more fun times with Omega and Crosshair that we wish could have gotten more of the focus. The showrunners seem to have developed the much appreciated ability to take an episode than in past seasons would have been disparaged as "filler" and give it just enough core plot movement to stave off that label. The majority of the focus of this episode is on the interpersonal relationships between members of the Batch, with some interesting parallels to Dune thrown in, and that's the strength of the show that has sometimes been missing from past episodes focused on the core characters....

The first quarter of Bad Batch's third season has concluded, and we may be off to one of the strongest starts of any season of Star Wars animated TV. Continuing to feel more like Andor than any other show, a standalone fourth episode successfully navigates the treacherous waters that come from following up the excellent third episode. The first few episodes of Season 3 start off strong, with three good episodes in a row. We get status quo updates on both of the major story lines from last season, with Hunter and Wrecker searching for Omega and Omega dealing with being a prisoner of the insidious Dr. Hemlock. We finally make it to the chronological end of Season 1, and to our most looked forward to arc! Impressively, it lives up to expectations and helps the season to end on a very high note. This will be the last Chronological Clone Wars episode for some time, as starting next week we'll be back with The Bad Batch, catching up on the second season in preparation for the third. Coming in with low expectations may have helped this two-parter, as both of us felt the episodes were better than we expected. For the most part, these episodes helped us to refocus on how Clone Wars is perceived and remember that first and foremost, it's a show for the kids. Let's jump in! We have just the one standalone episode to discuss today, but it is an interesting one! A fun mix of Star Trek TNG and horror vibes for the first half of the episode, followed by some accelerated character growth for a side character who ends up having a much larger role in the future. What we initially thought was going to be a forgettable two episode arc turns out to be a very solid adventure, with interesting new characters and a fun pair of morals. The first wonders about the difference between caring and becoming attached, and the second asking the question of which is right: fighting evil with violence or pacifism at all costs. Let's jump in! Our first smaller, two episode arc of season one, and it's a decent one. Not the strongest by any stretch, but with some fun dynamics between big characters and the introduction of a new character who turns out to be one of our long term favorites. And there's even a Jar Jar episode that isn't spoiled by his antics! Let's dive in! We start off strong with one of our favorite standalone episodes of Season 1, Rookies, before cratering in the middle with Downfall of a Droid, an episode which truly could have just been a narration blurb insert in the third episode. Duel of the Droids actually seems to work better as a standalone episode than it does as the second part of the arc. Let's jump in! We arrive at a stretch of Season 1 where the chronological order and the release order finally line up with one of the strongest three-part arcs of early Clone Wars. The Malevolence arc starts of strong with some surprisingly dark scenes, and manages to keep a high level of quality throughout parts two and three, making us wish that this instead of the Rotta arc had been chosen for the premier movie event. We continue our chronological watch through with an early, formative Clone episode, followed up by two episodes we initially did not even realize were related, both centered around a previously disconnected Toydaria arc. Watching these episodes in order gives a significant amount of backstory to a handful of characters who play important roles later in the series, so let's jump in! We begin our chronological watch through of The Clone Wars series with two episodes that, on first viewing, seemed completely random and unrelated to everything else surrounding them. Now, with the benefit of chronological viewing, we realize they make up two thirds of the Battle of Christophsis arc, and they benefit substantially from being viewed together and followed by the theatrical release. We're back with the second half of our introduction to the Clone Wars, and while we're overall disappointed in the movie itself, we have a lot to discuss in terms of how expectations can sink (or elevate) a viewing experience. Stories can create different expectations just by virtue of being called a movie or a show, and release schedules can also impact those experiences. Clone Wars (and several of the modern Star Wars TV shows) seems to have run into issues with the actual stories not...

Somewhat surprisingly, we have never discussed The Clone Wars move that was released in theaters to introduce people to the show on Cartoon Network. Spoiler alert: We feel it was a weird choice to use this particular arc from Season 1 as the theatrical release, when there are at least two other arcs that feel better suited for cinema. That being said, there is a lot to like, especially surrounding Ahsoka's introduction. Let's jump in! BECOME A PATRON:...

We've finally reached the conclusion of Ahsoka's first season, and we have a lot of thoughts to share. It's one of the rare occasions where both hosts agree on a lot of things but disagree on the overall score for the episode, with Mercules being pretty high on the presentation and moral of Ahsoka's journey, while Kutch is left feeling like some of the issues took away from the overall story too much.
