I listen to a lot of podcasts for writers and this is one of the best. Most of the others focus either on the craft of writing or on the business aspects but this one is a healthy mixture of both. There is plenty of usable wisdom but little blatant advice. It manages to be extremely inspiring...Read full review »

The content seems well thought out and engaging. But I’m turned off by the incessant background music. I liken it to the bass playing loudly from the car next to me at a stoplight. All the windows are rolled up but my car still quakes with every boom, boom, boom. The only thing I can do is drive...Read full review »

I stumbled upon this podcast while I was looking into the process of self publishing my first book and it has been eye opening. Thanks so much for all the advice and hope.

This podcast is full of good advice, but I find the presentation style too choppy. The whole podcast feels like an intro. I keep waiting for the musical interludes to stop and the conversation to begin. It almost feels as though they are censoring her replies by only playing the tiny repeated...Read full review »

Information is presented in a conversational tone with stories from people just like us. Check out the Prologue podcast if you are short on time. I...Read full review »

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this podcast. Like Shaz, my father instilled in me to “work hard and persevere.” That driving force inspired and spurred Shaz on to write The Closer... Similarly, that attitude and my father’s genes keeps me writing with a purpose. Thank you for being candid....Read full review »

I only listened to the ‘Prologue’ episode, but if the rest are the same, this should be an enjoyable podcast. I really enjoyed the narrator’s style and the material is interesting.

Wow! The series was incredibly beneficial for me. Just finished my first manuscript and had so many concerns about my next steps. The series addressed ALL of my concerns, including verifying my fears about others involved in the editing process. Also clarified the self-publishing route - the one...Read full review »

The Shaz Khang podcast was an ideal mix of honest, informational and motivational. Now I have a much better understanding of what to expect from a developmental edit, as well as a 10-step To Do list en route to self publishing. Knowing that someone as smart and acccomplished as Shaz made...Read full review »

I’m in the process of writing my first novel and I plan to self publish. This podcast breaks down the steps of writing a book, finding an editor, etc. in an easy to understand format and promotes the belief that anyone can write a novel, not just someone with an MFA. Love it so far!

As an editor, I am impressed by how these podcasts illustrate each step of the writing process. While writing comes from the heart, the steps an author needs to take once the first draft is completed are more practical, and they are laid out here in step-by-step fashion. Very useful for authors,...Read full review »

This podcast is very short and a little dramatic but it still manages to pack in a lot of information and an interesting story to go along with it. Reminds me of Radiolab. Probably really useful for young writers or people in other careers like Shaz who want to switch over to writing.
