“This is one of my favorite TC podcasts. Almost all of the cases are new to me and I like that a lot of them take place in the Midwest. The episodes are well researched and delivered without the unnecessary moralizing that plagues some other TC podcasts (yes, we all agree murder is bad). The host delivers the information objectively and has enough respect for her listeners to let them draw their own conclusions. She gives her opinion at the end but it doesn’t permeate the episode, which I appreciate.
I’ve noticed that many reviews about female-hosted TC pods seem overly focused and overly critical of the host’s voice, and the reviews here are no different. This is a shame. As any regular listener of TC pods knows, women are disproportionately the victims of violence. Female-hosted TC podcasts bring valuable perspectives to the table and it’s unfortunate that some are quick to dismiss them completely based on an “annoying” voice.
Yes, she has an accent (I think it’s endearing) and speaks in a measured, almost flat tone. But her delivery is also objective, allowing the content to stand on its own. And when the content is as high quality as it is here, that’s a very good thing.
If you’re a fan of Gen Why or Southern Fried TC, I’d highly recommend you give this a listen.”
