“Maybe the BBC have just set a high bar with previous series. I really wanted to like this series—it’s without doubt a great story—but it’s let down in its execution. The mix is all over the place: music drowning out voices; narration coming out of just one headphone; voices abruptly cutting out, etc. it makes the story hard to follow and understand. Then there were some editorial choices, like repeatedly introducing voices by highlighting the hosts tech blunders, which are just annoying and pull you out of the story rather than helping you to relax into it. A great story let down in its telling but on balance it’s still worth a listen.”
