I really want to enjoy this show but the sound production is all over the place. Background music drowns out voices and oh man the mouth noises and clicks?!

Sound, sometimes only i one ear (left) while music or other sound in right ear is horrible. Dont know if its a mistake or something artistic, but had to discontinue listening with headset; must have mono sound…

This podcast is good but could have been so much more. The detail they go in to seems superficial because each episode is only 15 minutes long. It would have made easier listening if they had longer episodes where they could have gone in to greater detail. An interesting topic nonetheless and a...Read full review »

This is a really interesting subject, but completely ruined by terrible audio.

Maybe the BBC have just set a high bar with previous series. I really wanted to like this series—it’s without doubt a great story—but it’s let down in its execution. The mix is all over the place: music drowning out voices; narration coming out of just one headphone; voices abruptly cutting out,...Read full review »

Some teething issues with the way interviews are done but fascinating story about the state-funded lies.

Paula Radcliffe talking about other countries doping. I’ll say no more.

A fascinating and important story but spoilt by the fifteen minute format. Would have been better in two hour long episodes.

Same old nationalistic view on doping. If you’re British and on your high horse about doping you can’t in good faith put Paula Radcliffe in the trailer.

This is predominantly about doping at the London 2012 Olympics and Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. However it asks questions about wider doping and puts the exposed Russian cheating into a wider context and helps explain what might have motivated those athletes and the country‘s sporting bodies; for...Read full review »

Interesting story and subject. Though somehow it doesn’t meet the usual BBC professionalism.

Interesting story but please sort out the sound quality! I was having to turn some people way up & then I’d get blasted by someone at a decent volume.

I vaguely recall snippets of this story in the news over the years but never before heard it told in one big chunk. Great interviews and names piecing together a remarkable tale.

Strange choice of editing with the host talking over the interviewees. Generally ok, but watch Icarus over on Netflix for more depth.

an alluring story, done wrong by (some) uninsightful, dull and leading questions. Made even worse by the interviewee’s struggle to answer them cutting into the already short episode time the episodes are oddly short. eaten into needlessly by preamble, setting the stage needlessly for things...Read full review »

Ok
Great story but lacking in structure and insightful comment.

Love how each episode is 15 min. This show is heavy on interviews with insiders, with some context from the narrator/reporter here and there. It is a simple, but effective podcast about the scale and effectiveness of Russia’s sports doping efforts, and the pathetic inaction from oversight...Read full review »
