Ep 55: Being an Illuminator
Listen now
Description
We all have the potential become illuminators. What exactly is an illuminator you ask? They are those folks, that when you walk away from talking to them, you just feel so dang awesome. You feel better about yourself, you feel seen, you feel witnessed. Illumination doesn't have to be the person saying you're amazing. Illumination can be the light of their attention and interest and they think of other people with tenderness, kinda like Mr. Rogers or Ted Lasso. Illuminators have a deep desire to witness the human being in front of them with generosity, looking past the things that we want to judge. It's about having really active curiosity when we're witnessing someone else. In this episode, I also share tactical ways to illuminate with someone else, and how to do it in a conversation. Then, I'll wrap things up by sharing some questions that you can use to create deeper connections with those around you. Go light up the world if you want to.  What you'll learn in this episode:  With practice, everyone has the potential to become an illuminator  Practical advice for embracing empathetic communicationThe "midwife model" of dialogueHow to create more meaningful connections by showing genuine interest othersMentioned in this episode: Ep 54: When We Look But We Don’t SeeHow to Know a Person by David BrooksKaja SilvermanEp 15: Listen to ThisHow to connect with Marie: On the Web | The Local Bloom Instagram: @the.bloom.coach All Things Marie on LinkTree JOIN THE BLOOM ROOM!
