Recent convert to the Church of Bob and this excellent show is the perfect guide as I work through his enormous back catalogue. Indispensable.

As a newbie to Bob Dylan and with English as a second language this podcast opens a whole new world. I love it and it makes my love for Dylan grow episode by episode.

I think this podcast is the gold standard for how a podcast should be presented. Impeccably researched, well produced, informative, educational, and insightful. I can’t imagine Bob Dylan being explained in a better way.

The research and time Ben puts into this must be immense. Totally worth it and makes it a brilliant podcast

I only got into this podcast after it was already finished but I’m so glad I discovered it. Brilliantly produced and presented. Full of interesting facts and anecdotes but doesnt suffer from over analysis. The multi-part episodes for the most famous albums are the highlight

The level of detail across the entire canon of Dylan’s album is mind blowing. I zoned in on Freewheelin to start listening. I’ve learnt so much. If I could also add that yes the lyrics are all important in this song, but the reason this album stands out for me as his best is because of the...Read full review »

Just discovered this podcast…and have realised it is now a historical record with no more episodes scheduled. Fantastic stuff - obviously a labour of love - thoughtful and clear. Top shelf. Thanks.

I’ve been a Dylan fan since I was a teenager, and this podcast does a great job of breaking down his albums. Very thoughtful analysis and interesting explanations. Highly recommend for Dylan veterans and those new to his music.

Loved these series. I only owned about 10 or so of the classic albums and seen Bob live 3 times. But I have expanded my vinyl collection with this podcast and the reviews are spot on. Will miss this podcast when it’s done. Love to hear Bob review all the many Dylan obsessed podcasts in return😆

It’s an album I’ve kind of avoided but after listening to the podcast on it, I’ve warmed much more. Thanks.

Great podcast, made me look back and listen even to the weird and not so good albums of Dylan. Great attention to all the details funs would love, behind the recordings. Stories, technical information, demos, and of course well edited and narrated.

I am a long term Dylan fan and have read a number of books about his music. But the trouble with a book format is you can’t listen to the music as you read. This podcast works perfectly as Ben is able cut in the music to illustrate the point he is making. He also picks up his own guitar so he can...Read full review »

This podcast, and the podcast ‘Blood on the Tracks’ has turned me from someone that knew the hits, to an obsessive. I’m now getting ready to see him live in October.

This podcast was recommended by my son who knows my passion for Dylan’s music (and shares it as much as a 31 year old can). I’ve listened to several albums, just finished the Blood on the Tracks podcasts. Ben Burrell knows his stuff, knows how to use clips from songs to support what he is...Read full review »

A simple twist of fate brought me to this podcast From my first “another side of BD “ LP bought as a 10th grader living in Paris . It’s a little galling to have listened to Dylan albums as they came out in the 60’s, to have a guy in his 30’s explain to me what I’ve been listening to. But Ben is the best. I don’t know where he gets the depth of knowledge about something created 30 years before he was born, but he’s got the...Read full review »

When Dylan turned up the amp at Newport back in the day, the crowd called out for folk music, and I can’t help but think that this album is his belated response. If a fan of Dylan and in-depth analysis of each of his albums, this is for you. Also like how some songs get a “break down” analysis of composition and construction of song.

If you know anything about Dylan listen to the episode of Infidels. I love that album but this host is way off. While Dylan sings, “Someone else is speakin' with my mouth, but I'm listening only to my heart…”, the host says Dylan is lamenting that his Christian albums weren’t really...Read full review »

For Dylan’s spiritual focused records, he does a shallow look at songs that are deep and multidimensional. He comes through as the ‘ Ballad of a thin man’ character, that just don’t know what’s going on. You cannot explain art by just describing the techniques.
