“I find that although I enjoy the premise of this podcast and love many of the chats I hear, I’ve given up on it lately because Robin dominates so much. He’s lovely, but there is plenty of him elsewhere, and other lovable male geeks of his type. Whereas there are extremely slim pickings of funny working class (?) women talking about their favourite books. The peak was the Sarah Pascoe ep in which Josie and Sarah kept trying to talk passionately about Elena Ferrante, but got repeatedly interrupted until they moved topic. I still long to know what they would have said about Ferrante’s indescribable work. It feels like a raging thirst. Some types of women’s talk are destined always to be silenced.”
