The only problem with this podcast is that I’ll never be able to read all of the recommended books. Smart and thoughtful and nourishing.

Robin’s interview technique is painful to listen to. He just can’t let the interviewee speak without trying to crowbar an irrelevant anecdote in. It’s frustrating. Although, props to Josie Long who is always a pleasure.

Quite enjoy the range of books, authors, topics and styles covered. Read eccentrically.

Always a pleasure. Guaranteed to be introduced to a new world each listen. Almost Late Junctionesk. Thanks Robin, Josie & Trent.

Oh what a shame. Ince virtue signalling how he is so privileged as a white straight man. Killed it. 1 star.

This is an excellent idea. Celebs talk about books, what’s not to like? Robin Ince Never heard someone so desperate to display his ‘wide reading’. Every time a guest names a book he shouts over them about his knowledge of it. Listen to the Jon Ronson episode- Ince basically shouts him down and...Read full review »

I would have given this five for the interesting guests if Robin didn’t keep interrupting them at crucial moments. Not saying that Robin isn’t interesting, but his timing is not the best.

If you’re interviewing Hugh Warwick, I’ll delete, thanks.

Anyone else prefer this without the increasingly sporadic appearances from Josie Long? Her pointless wittering adds nothing and breaks the flow of conversation. Her having that baby seems to have benefited us all.

Settle down and listen to Robin Ince and Josie Long’s fascinating in-depth conversations with authors. Their enthusiasm and curiosity is infectious. Whoever they talk to you’ll inevitably come away with a long list of authors and ideas you’ll want to explore further.

A fantastic podcast, I would really recommend it to anyone who loves books. I didn't grow up in UK, so even though I read loads of books my reading CV is totally different from Robin's & Josie's. I love hearing about other people's reading history. Even if sometimes I...Read full review »

Listening to this podcast is like watching a Richard Linklater film. The conversations are rambly and strange and always interesting, even when they veer away from books. No one’s trying to show off, no one’s trying to create a persona or a brand, there are no hot takes, Robin and Josie are just...Read full review »

Some voices barely audible and others too loud so can’t increase the volume. Have given up trying to listen, so annoying. Shame as I think I may have liked it. Sounds like it wasn’t proof listened too before broadcasting it.

I find that although I enjoy the premise of this podcast and love many of the chats I hear, I’ve given up on it lately because Robin dominates so much. He’s lovely, but there is plenty of him elsewhere, and other lovable male geeks of his type. Whereas there are extremely slim pickings of funny...Read full review »

The usual format for this podcast is for a guest to arrive with a bag of books which serves as a jumping off point for some interesting discussion. There are extended episodes for subscribers and shorter interviews as well. Unfailingly entertaining!

Oh dear Robin and Josie. I already have a growing mountain of books on my desk in the "read these NOW Gemma" pile. After one episode with Noel Fielding, I've written a list of another 12 books I must read NOW. If I continue listening (which, of course, I will) then I may have to quit...Read full review »

Book Shambles is the perfect combination of conversation, humour and discussion (and it sort of includes books!!) This could be such an interesting podcast, but listening to Josie get repeatedly interrupted by Robin is just unbearable. I would like to be able to hear her finish her point.

Just rambling, talking over each other, pointless changes of topic and unwanted political opinions. I find this an irritating listen. Sorry but not for me.

I always love hearing the interaction between these two and their guests. After meeting Robin at newscientist live 2017, I love it even more because, he comes across as a genuinely nice man and its not just an act!

Highlight of my week when this podcast downloads! Love listening to the informed but inclusive discussion. Many fantastic suggestions have broadened my reading and makes me feel part of the shambles family.
