“I enjoyed listening to this podcast, though I haven't often read the work under discussion. On the ones I have read, I liked listening to the banter and conversation, but found it is best when you actually discuss the "substance" part of the literature. I like that you frame your discussion around this topic. Too much of contemporary culture lacks substance, or, at least, lacks the willingness to discuss true substance and its importance in our lives. I hope you can discuss this issue in more detail. I really appreciated the episodes on Naked Earth and Master/Margarita and it reminded me of something Mario Varga Llosa wrote in his book Notes on the Death of Culture: “nothing sharpens our senses or makes us more alert to the roots of cruelty, evil and violence than good literature.” Keep talking about the importance of literature in our lives. Thanks.”
