Great narration, thoughtful interviews and explainers that are an indictment of the troubles with the industry, rather than a knee-jerk reaction that usually serves only to hurt the local people whose economy has been designed to rely on it.

This poignant human angle of the oil boom in West Texas resonates across the landscape. The imagery conjured in Wallace’s drawl is vivid and accurate. I am eagerly anticipating the continuation of this story, having ridden along the Highway to Hell. Let’s see where Wallace shunts us next.

Growing up in Rankin in the 70’s and 80’s I saw the earlier booms and busts that the oilfield brought with it. Hearing the old stories of the Santa Rita #1 in Texon where my dad and his 7 brothers and sisters were born in the original boom was great. Really well done and informative podcast. I really like it and cant wait for the next one. I listen to it as I haul water into the frac in north east pensylvania. But I think it feels pretty negative towards the oil field and i dont like that.
