Hard to listen!
I came across Aubrey on the Tamarindo podcast. I was encouraged to listen because of Aubrey's strong sense of brown girl pride and bringing other proud voices to the conversation, however it is really really difficult to listen to this podcast because Aubrey is so self-absorbed and goes off on tangents about herself way too much! Sometimes it works, but most of the time it comes of as condescending because she asks a question and insists on an example, just let the guests interpret and express the questions in their own way, they're more than qualified! And for the guests who aren't as confident in an interview setting you can help that by being a better interviewer instead of talking about yourself. Listen to Angela Rye and Janet Mock's podcasts they're great at letting the interviewees shine! I get it she's trying to bring her experience to the table too, but I personally want to hear about the interviewer and their work, maybe take notes about what you want to talk about Aubrey and do an episode where you answer questions from listeners since you want to talk about your experience.Read full review »
