In this Ep I sit down with James aka Zhagg the 2nd Savior, a cat I went to high school for my last year in Yokota Japan. From skipping school and fishing with Japanese WWII veterans, all the way to sneaking in the house to listen to Hip Hop music on headphones- losing the seat as student president due to some theft scandal. Criticism of capitalism, taking the Sochratic approach to conversation bouts, practicing freestyle skills driving around talking about anything that fell into sight. Zhagg...

This is a new endeavor with the podcast I’m calling “Just Dave, Dancing With Thoughts”, taking a solo flight and having a go at trying to take the introspective dive. As we grow along the cycle of life, our perspective takes twists and turns and eventually will hopefully land with at least some level of conviction and tranquility. Mine is getting close to that and thought I’d share some bits and pieces- mostly just to keep myself occupied and entertained as I sit alone, dancing with thoughts....

I had the opportunity to chop it up with Dakarai Spiritual, a great and productive connection that I was able to make through a mutual revel and love for this Hip Hop music- which we choose to utilize as a signal to both strut our creative skills while spreading words of inspiration. We talk about the early days of finding Hip Hop and the beginning of rhyming and eventually finding ways into production and making beats- different methods and tools, and yo Casio! Hit us up for promotion...

This episode L and I sit with Sendrizm and chop it up about early days of Hip Hop coming together and the establishment of Lifted Suns and other Hawaiian legendary Hip Hop. Sendrizm shares his pain of not speaking up in music class and being forced to play the french bugle, all the way rocking beat battles and being hushed down by the cops. Sendrizm has dropped a few banging ass beat-tapes and has a unique sound, both with the beats and also rhyming on the mic. Hope you all enjoy the latest...

I sit down and chop it up with my brother-from-another-mother, my main man RateDoc- who I grew up with in the wonderful world known as Yaktown, or Pontiac, Michigan. We talk about everything from meeting Hip Hop and writing rhymes, first recordings humbly done on karaoke machines and that confidence boost when the homies first hear how dope the flow is. Michael Jackson look-alike contests in Longfellow elementary to washing a semi-truck after drinking a Colt 45 forty ounce. Enjoy and if you...

KO Style and Dave Melv sit down and chop it up about back in the day and first writing rhymes, from brown paper bags to napkins and all the way to loose leaf pages in a Trapper Keeper. Dave Melv shares the story of getting kicked out of school for writing X rated rhymes- the chapters of life and the grind of grabbing chances to put work into creating Hip Hop. Bed lice in vinyl sleeves and jackets, some old school songs that were part of the genesis of becoming DAMKO and KOLD. Hope you enjoy...

Thank you please! This is the first round of many to come of the old men talking about making beats, starting from some of the equipment we have used in the past- Roland MS-1, cassette tape multitrack recorders, ASR-X, AKAI MPC 2000, MPC 1000, Gemini DS8 and all of the wonderful limitations that helped induce creative innovational methods to bring the dopeness on the beats. Dealing with dead pads on MPCs, working with no sequencer function and banging the pads and playing samples like a true...

In this episode we talk about how we got connected and started making music together, the forming of one group on to the continuation on after things changed. Skipping CDs and trying to find that song on tape players, repairing a broken cassette and the fallen soldier of MiniDiscs. Amazingly productive period of 3 songs getting done every week and a year that yielded 5 great Hip Hop albums- and the momentum is still buzzing. The story behind the KOLD song "Out KOLD" and a listening chance-...
