Funny and Relatable
I downloaded CYG after reading about it in an article on Refinery 29. The first time I listened to the podcast, I was at the gym running on a treadmill. Let me tell you, I haven’t ran faster or laughed out loud like that in a really long time. The treadmill area was pretty empty when I started the pilot, but as I got into the first episode, the entire room was full. I was laughing and smiling so much that the person next to me asked me what I was listening to. As a journalism student interested in radio, I’m a bit sensitive about the criticisms made regarding vocal fry and the use of the word “like.” Women in radio are criticized so harshly. Even Ira Glass has vocal fry… this is just something people will have to get over or ignore if they want to continue listening to radio and podcasts. All in all, I love this podcast. I love listening to strong, feminist points of view, and I appreciate the CYG ladies for all they do!
