Episodes are way too short & reader’s “accents” are distracting.
Each episode is under 15-20 minutes long, and this just isn’t workable for serialized stories. Just as you are getting into the story, the podcast is done. If you want to listen to more than one at a time, you a) have to go through the whole breathing exercise at the being of each one, and b) have to go back and select it because they weren’t loaded in order. It’s very annoying. I also think the reader shouldn’t affect accents. They don’t work and so are distracting at times and grating at others.

More reviews of Calm Mystery
For me, calm reading means rather quiet and slow, so there is nothing jarring you back awake. The readers of these stories are loud or brash, speak quickly and use different voices for characters. Nice in many ways, but not calming or easy to fall asleep to, at least not for me.

Soothing voicing telling me murder mysteries. What more could you want?

The reader has a very enjoyable and emotive voice and selects interesting stories, both familiar and unfamiliar to me. I binged on the backlog and found it very fun listening. :-)
