“I’m not so angry about what happened to me, but I hate who I became there. The message of Anneewakee wasn’t I’ll respect and praise you if you behave a certain way, but rather
I’ll hate you of you don’t. Over time we were brainwashed into believing what was happening to us was “therapeutic” and for our own good, so many of us became just as cruel as any staff member. I’ve long since learned to live with my experiences there, although I had reoccurring nightmares for 20 years about being sent back. However, one thing I haven’t learned to live with after all this time...I wish I could somehow go back in time and take back the cruelty I doled out in the name of Anneewakee. I’m sorry brothers...Really.”
